That's a man baby, yeah!

2003-04-04 12:00:52 PM
It is thought that Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar is being touted for the lead role.

2003-04-04 12:05:11 PM
And you know, half of the people that audition for parts in the movie are going to be the ones who are totally against the war.

/surprise

Join the army for a few months, become a cripple for life!

Timmah!!!!

2003-04-04 12:11:58 PM
This should have the asinine tag.

2003-04-04 12:16:53 PM
i wonder if the movie is going to use the propaganda truth or the real trught...

2003-04-04 12:28:12 PM
Tell us, H3lx, what is the "real trught..."?

Anyway, this should have been "Who will play Lynch?" (voting enabled!)

This woman fired her weapon at advancing enemies until she had no more ammunition, even after that she kept trying to fire. She was shot, beaten and taken prisoner of war.

This is the resolve of the people that defend your rights and freedoms.

If there are heros today, She is definitely one of them. Its about damn time we glorify those willing to place everything on the line to protect and preserve our way of life.

2003-04-04 12:35:34 PM
"Dude, Where's My Ammunition?"

"Its about damn time we glorify those willing to place everything on the line to protect and preserve our way of life."

Agreed, but not through over-exaggerated and hyper-dramatic hollywood claptrap where 90% of the story simply isn't true. I'll bet anything it'll be "based on" and not "an actual account of" her story. A documentary would be more approriate.

"It is thought that Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar is being touted for the lead role."

See, the story is irrelevant. Who stars, how much money they get, how much money the movie makes and who gets the story first is what counts. Pathetic.

2003-04-04 12:44:25 PM
Not that it won't be in the movie, but Jessica was not shot or stabbed. Beaten and traumatized, clearly, but not shot.

Whether she emptied her ammo into Iraqis or not is still unclear to me. It'll look cool in the movie, regardless.

I watched a Disney movie called "Right on Track" with my kids a couple of times in the last week. It has a typical Disney message (work hard and you'll be rewarded, don't let people tell you girls can't succeed in a "man's" sport, etc.) but I kept getting distracted. The story is supposed to take place in Houston, but all the time dad and others are wearing sweaters and flannel shirts over t-shirts and such. Then (bigger to me) there were mountains in the background of the "Houston Raceway" used to film the race scenes. I'm not sure which Houston they were in, it ain't ours.

The race scenes were cool (Erica Enders did the actual driving) but the typical Disney/Hollywood crap took a lot out of the movie for me.

Oh well. I'm pretty sure it will not be Buffy in this movie (if it gets made), but putting that kind of crap information out gets it noticed. Kinda like the Iraqis promising a major battle.

2003-04-04 01:02:11 PM
I hear Queen Latifah is getting in shape for the role.

2003-04-04 01:11:01 PM
Funny. The whole battle she was in would probably last 15 minutes real-time. Then add the capture, interogation, hospitalization and rescue... uhh Yea, we can make this into a movie.

Why wouldn't it be Sarah Michelle Gellar? She's freed up from the Buffy shows now...

2003-04-04 01:16:40 PM
GEAH -

the real truth is that she was not shot and stabbed... verified by her family.. the shooting and stabbing was propaganda... and yes - she was beaten.. but - that happens to POWs - and yes - they GAVE her medical treatment.. according with geneva convention.. nothing is off color here - the only thing that makes her special is that an IRAQI decided she should be rescued and came forward...

/not an anti war liberal...

2003-04-04 01:40:10 PM
Where did the "she was shot and stabbed" story come from anyway? Did the media just decide to add a little spice to the story or what? It'll be interesting to see if the "fought to the last bullet" part of it is true.

2003-04-04 02:21:26 PM
As the story was unfolding (when she was actually rescued) the "she had been shot" got put in there by someone. It might have been that somebody saw how wounded she was (her legs are pretty bad) and thought she had been shot, more likely somebody 'overheard' that she had been shot and just stuck it in.

She had some lacerations (cuts) but the doctors say they were not stab wounds, more likely from getting hit or thrown down.

Stories like this tend to build as they are retold, which is why I'm trying to be patient on the "used up all her ammo before they got her" part of the story, unless it's from an eyewitness, last I heard Jessica is still being debriefed and hasn't said much to anyone about what happened.

No, it wasn't propaganda. Read a story about the Iraqi who tipped off the Marines. He was the one who said she was shot and stabbed. The guy was a lawyer, not a doctor. He just knew she was f*cked up (which she was) and assumed she had been shot. They didn't know she had not been shot until they had a chance to work on her.

We can all debate till we are blue in the face about what went down with Lynch's capture. The fact is no one knows. So let us all wait until some reliable facts come in before we start blowing smoke out our ass.

Hero or not, Hollywood making a movie about it is stupid IMO. A supply convoy gets ambushed, people killed, at least one wounded. Then the wounded one is rescued after a few days. Unless your idea of a good time is watching someone lying in pain for a few days, it's going to be a sucky movie. Documentary is the way to go, but I guess that won't make enough money.

2003-04-04 05:08:39 PM
Impaler
How do you go from saying nobody knows the facts and then in the next paragraph manage to know what the movie is about?

2003-04-04 05:11:06 PM
The DETAILED facts. It's pretty obvious that
1. Supply convoy was ambushed
2. She was in Iraqi custody of a few days
3. she was rescued.

2003-04-04 05:21:30 PM
So why would it be a movie about someone lying in pain for a few days?

2003-04-04 05:32:30 PM
I don't know. Just let me criticize Hollywood. It makes me feel better.

2003-04-04 05:37:43 PM
Impaler's right. When Lynch comes out and tells her story on all the talk shows, then maybe we'll know what really happened to her. Until then, just wait.

Impaler has a good point. But isn't pointless conjecture the name of the game in 2003? Ask any "journalist".

2003-04-04 06:47:06 PM
jesus, you guys got going and it finally dawned on me you weren't talking about that kidnapped utah girl.

i think i need a time-out.

2003-04-04 07:42:47 PM
And I'll bet she wouldn't piss on Hollywood if it were on fire.

The guy who walked and found the Marines and told them where she was - get that guy a picture deal. He's got a big pair of brass ones for that.

2003-04-04 07:44:05 PM
Lets get this out of the way:

"Saving private Lynch"

/obvious

2003-04-04 07:45:34 PM
It'd be a porn plot. Go in somewhere hot and dangerous. Have someone pull you out. Your exhausted and in pain. Cut! Print!

2003-04-04 07:45:55 PM
So they're taking our wounded to hospitals?

2003-04-04 07:46:00 PM
Reminds me of something out of Orwell's 1984.

2003-04-04 07:46:21 PM
anyone got a pic of this girl before she was beaten up? maybe she could play herself. not that I think making this movie is a good idea but it'd be cool if she was the one completely real thing in it.

2003-04-04 07:47:26 PM
An hour on A&E's Biography is all this needs and deserves.

2003-04-04 07:47:30 PM
From Numberz link:
The former prisoner of war already has provided the staff with a list of her favorite foods, including turkey, applesauce and steamed carrots, Rubenstein said.

Jebus, what a boring list. I'd be asking for a friggin deep dish pizza, hot wings, bread sticks, some crack, and a banana split.

2003-04-04 07:48:22 PM
..and beer. Lots of beer. Oh and to have it served to me by a playmate.

2003-04-04 07:49:29 PM
See, the story is irrelevant. Who stars, how much money they get, how much money the movie makes and who gets the story first is what counts. Pathetic.

Meshman is right. They're looking for big stars and big money, not a stirring tribute to a hero.

"We need pizzas. Two big pizzas, and water whole lota water..."

2003-04-04 07:53:53 PM
Jesse the Iraqi Slayer...eh, it could work.

2003-04-04 07:55:30 PM
Maybe Michael Moore could do a documentary in it.

2003-04-04 07:59:15 PM
You mean the film isn't done yet? What the fcuk?

I like Svenburger's rumor: put Queen Latifah in the lead. That way I won't be tempted in any way to see it.

Contest time!

Director: James Cameron

Lead: Ashley Judd, no makeup.

3 of her cronies to include: Joaquin Phoenix, Michael Rappaport, Barry Pepper (cuz he looks a LOT like me, plus he was cool in Saving Pvt Ryan). Throw in Vin Diesel for good measure somewhere else; he never dies--I think it's a contractual thing.

Iraqi hero dude: that Mid-East looking kid from True Lies.
His wife: Selma Hayek or however the hell you spell her name.

Save me a fire exit seat!

How about the Nanookano (sic, who cares) tries to date a real woman, can't handle real life, decides to spend life on Fark? Ohh damn, nobody would care, except sweater gash, malinoid, other fark no life sacks of crap.

Rats, been viewing Fark for years, the regulars, and hangers on really get old. Fark regs with a sub 500 really suck.

Get a life Farkers!

Damn, gonna get banned for voicing such stuff.

2003-04-04 07:59:49 PM
Shouldn't the movie focus on the Iraqi lawyer? He really put himself in a dangerous situation(not saying that she wasn't in danger).

On the other hand, Hollywood has no shame.

2003-04-04 08:00:37 PM
I think she should be played by Samuel L. Jackson. That would be a movie worth watching.

2003-04-04 08:01:11 PM
Actually, Fox News accredited an army press relations officer with the story about how, even after begin shot and stabbed, she still emptied her pistol into the advancing saracens.

I was weightlifting at the time and I had to leave the room because my bullshiat meter went off.

He's already done a vehicle that like in "The Color People".

*That was Oprah?*

Genki381

provide sentences & sources from "1984", i dont see how the rescue of a POW could possibly be seen as something from that book.

SockMonkeyHolocaust: ...I had to leave the room because my bullshiat meter went off.
