Hell is other people.

Gosh, we sure don't want to inconvenience the poor guy, do we?

The other inmate was later transferred.

It doesn't say anything about whether his strategy worked or if he complained anywhere besides "Incarcerated Monthly". Just that at one point he had a Christian as a roomate at one point and now he doesn't. That said, this thread has rape and religion in it, so it's about to get really loud in here regardless.

AN atheist rapist has complained that his human rights were breached by having to share a prison cell with a Christian lag.

Nobody likes lag, but it's not really a human rights violation.

Oh, you and your inconvenient facts.

In any case, even the claim that he wanted a new cell is based on some tabloid journalist's anonymous source, which usually means "pulled out of the writer's ass" so I suggest taking the whole story with a few truckloads of salt.

Not that's gonna stop this thread from erupting into a giant atheist-versus-christian flamewar any second now.

There is suck a thing as "cruel and unusual" punishment, and torture. I think having to bunk with a bible thumper ranks near the top of the list for both.

Shoulda just raped the guy. That'd get him to shut up.

/or not
//YMMV

More subtle than usual.

Evolution can probably explain the development of a rapist.

Can god?

2010-01-03 01:25:31 AM
Is it our fault he decided to rape only atheists?

2010-01-03 01:25:39 AM
Was the atheist rapist's complaint that the cellmate preached Christianity, or was it that he wanted another atheist to rape?

2010-01-03 01:25:53 AM
He's still in Prison.

2010-01-03 01:26:21 AM
Well, I'm getting my popcorn out...

2010-01-03 01:26:36 AM
Has a christian ever complained his cell-mate was a godless heathen? A soul-less sociopath? Has the opposite ever occurred? Really? What about a Muslim complaining about a prison run in the fasion of a predominately euro-centric legal system?

Just asking questions here...

So an atheist finally ended up in prison, I knew this day would come.

They do seem to complain about the food a lot, so there's that.

It wasn't "a Christian". It was a loudmouth bible thumping evangelist.

Actually, it's from The Sun, so we have no idea what actually happened.

Well I can see where he wouldn't want to go back to jail again. Better than the Ludovico treatment, I say.

Hmmmmm. Do you know what happened?

\okay, I'll stay out of this thread.

Barman Steven Relf, 40, was jailed indefinitely after admitting raping two women he targeted when he served them drinks in a pub.

Police branded him a "sexual predator" and said he could have had as many as 40 victims.

In a letter to an inmates' magazine, Relf wrote: "I recently had the displeasure of sharing a cell with a Bible-thumping believer."

/I have the displeasure of living in the same world as an animal like you, and wish you would die by the quickest method possible. I am offended by your existence.

FTA: "Police branded him a 'sexual predator' and said he could have had as many as 40 victims."

He could have, if only he'd paced himself.

wild9: Sorry. If you go to prison your rights go out the window. I have no sympathy for this man.

This is untrue. Of course, I have no sympathy for the person convicted of rape, but he has rights; to not be annoyed is not one of them.

Any story coming from "The Sun", though, could mean anywhere from the absolute truth to, say, the Bible-Thumper complaining or making threats, so this is probably less of a non-story than being made out to be.

It's from The Sun. So it could actually be an agoraphobic Taoist in Candyland running towards a suicide bomber for all we know.

2010-01-03 01:39:17 AM
He said he wanted to speak to a lawyer about his rights so he could be moved cells.

Reading this without the vitriol in the opening...this is fairly reasonable. If I did not enjoy my cellmate, I would ask a lawyer as to my rights about being switching cells. Will probably be around for a while, with little to actually occupy my time with, and telling a person to stop talking only takes so long.

This is not a "whine" nor has he "complained" about "his human rights" at all, as far as the article is concerned.

2010-01-03 01:39:22 AM
I see Atheists are whiny on that side of the pond, too.

2010-01-03 01:39:25 AM
If he was so bad-ass, why didn't he solve the problem himself?
Maybe he was about to, and that's why the other guy was moved.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

He is talking about something else entirely, but it still holds true. Either we treat all people with a measure of respect or we lower ourselves to their level. Revenge and cruelty rarely serves to do anything more than pull you down, too.

End of story.

I want to see an atheist bashing thread.
Oh wait, Christians don't act like 5 year olds.

/I lied, most of them do
//still atheists are worse
