This is a surprise?

2010-01-02 11:45:45 AM
The question is: Are there any films expected in 2010 that aren't remakes or sequels?

2010-01-02 11:57:33 AM
I don't care if it's a remake or a sequel, as long as it doesn't suck. Some remakes are better than the original, and let's face it, the original Clash of the Titans was made on the cheap.

2010-01-02 12:13:07 PM
Why should they? These movies keep making money.

2010-01-02 12:39:52 PM
I am so sick of seeing people say that their childhood has been raped. How weak of character do you need to have in order for that to happen? God damn pussies.

2010-01-02 12:54:57 PM
At least we have memories to exploit. What the hell is Hollywood going to do when the Millennials hit 40?

"We're making a remake of the A-Team remake to exploit Gen-Y nostalgia!"

2010-01-02 01:15:20 PM
I can't wait until 90's nostalgia washes over us the way 80's nostalgia did in the 00's.

2010-01-02 01:22:50 PM
If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Easy.

I can already say I'll prefer the Family Guy versions of all of these.

as someone who's wearing a flannel shirt over a Loop t-shirt, I'm getting a kick...

/probably the only person under 35 wearing a Love and Rockets shirt right now.

ok, Clash of the Titans looks KICK-ASS! I loved the origional when I was a kid, but lets face it...it didnt age well

If there is a bigger douche in the world than Bradley Cooper I've yet to see them.

It's a funny kind of rape. These movies keep getting made because the victims keep handing over money to get violated. The Comic book adaptation is the only money-in-the-bank genre right now.

Jakevol2: I won't rest until we we get the 150 minute Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job $100 million+ epic.

Thats alot of drugs they can buy after paying $20 for the camera, $50 for the 4 DVR tapes, and an unpaid intern.

That's call prostitution.

Looks like Sam Worthington is going to be the next big action star.

Now, given that I have watched one young actor from my home-town bite the dust, I have this advice for you:

STAY AWAY FROM MARY-KATE OLSEN!

Wait a second. Ridley Scott is making a Robin Hood with Russell Crowe? That I'm just now hearing about?

Basij: Wait a second. Ridley Scott is making a Robin Hood with Russell Crowe? That I'm just now hearing about?

Because Crowe was originally supposed to be the Sheriff of Nottingham, with the tale told from his perspective but, uh...rewrites, yeah, we'll go with that, changed it.

I'd like for them to perpetually postpone the Magnum remake.

LordZorch: I don't care if it's a remake or a sequel, as long as it doesn't suck

That's impossible. More for remakes than sequels. In the case of a remake, the "creators" are saying: "I do not have the commitment to my own ideas to actually create a compelling experience, so instead, I am going to use a short-hand by using tried and tested ideas, so that I can take the minimal amount of creative and financial risk. Because, deep down, I'm just a shill operating in a factory, not a creative professional."

If I'm going to watch something, I want to see something I haven't seen before. In an era where our cultural history is accessible nearly instantly with one mouse click, I just can't see why I'd want a remake of something I can watch right now.

FTF all the rest of us.

It's not just the Showbiz threads--same thing happens over in the Geek section too any time his posts appear. Normally I'd employ the Ignore option, but the posts are just so full of arrogance, I get a kick out of them.

I'm still waiting for Eli Roth's 3D reimagining of H.R. Pufnstuf.

2010-01-02 04:15:40 PM
TRON in 3-D can't get here soon enough.

I wish they'd do a big budget The Black Hole in 3-D too

But, you know, actually have a story this time.

Anyone else remember those Sinbad movies? Yeah, I liked the original Clash of the Titans as well, but... I'm not gonna get all weepy they're remaking something that starred Harry Hamlin.

I'm arrogant in geek threads, definitely. It's because I am smarter, more savvy, and generally better educated than you.

I'm a snob in showbiz threads because I just exist to annoy you. And that other guy. And that other one. Y'know, whatshisname.

Gangway Fathead: TRON in 3-D can't get here soon enough.

I don't want it in 3D, but I am looking forward to it, so long as they don't try and give the lightbikes realistic physics. Because nothing ruins lightbikes faster than seeing them behave like a real-world bike.

I'm amazed you've bothered. I wouldn't. I'd think less of you for it, but since I'm not going to bother to Farky you, I'll forget it within 15 minutes.

Now that I am looking forward to.

Gangway Fathead: But, you know, actually have a story this time.

Hey, The Black Hole had a story. The story was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea except without any logic or sense to it. But it did have a story.

And Maximillian remains bad-ass.

It helps to have a pop-culture founded on some semblance of originality.

Well, if the teaser trailer is any indication, they give the lightcycles semi-realistic physics, with the exception of some neato braking flaps at the rear. (new window)

buckler: Well, if the teaser trailer is any indication

None of that will actually be in the film. It's less a "teaser" and more a demo reel. So, I retain my hope. Rumor has it that they do both- on the "Game Grid", they behave like the classic cycle, and off it they are more realistic. Which is okay, in part, because that is how it worked in the original.

You're right- the exception is movies that are about a generation old and have mostly been forgotten among most people.

Yeah, haven't we all talked about all of these movies for months now? I know I've been present in many of these threads, and quite frankly, these don't look as bad as some others that have been named.

All the same, BOHICA.
