I honestly wonder if Kim Jong-Il is dead and his son has taken over and isn't quite as batshiat insane but they're being coy about it for political reasons.

Hmph. If it wasn't for the hostile relationship between the DPRK and the USA, there would be no relationship at all.

/So they are putting an end to our relationship? We being dumped?

I'm wondering if China is getting sick of supporting North Korea and having to deal with the massive illegal immigration coming across the border.

I'll bet their message to their people involved a lot more rainbows and magical birds bowing to Dear Leader, and thanking him for for creating a revolutionary and glorious idea to measure time in years.

It ranks up there with his revolutionary and glorious idea to be able to adjust the height of school desks.

Slick Willy must have left a pretty good impression upon the little fellow.

The New Year's message comes as the North has likely detained an American missionary for illeglly crossing into the country, a move that the Arizona man reportedly did on purpose.

Moronic attention whore missionary.

They want peace, they want to be our friends, but the US just wants to get their hands on North Korea's... um... what do they have there?

2010-01-01 04:00:11 PM
Followed by next month's announcement that North Korea is backing away from all agreements and talks, and will continue to increase its nuclear arsenal.

Then a month later, an announcement wanting to return to talks, decrease tensions, and denuclearize the Korean peninsula

Wash, rinse, repeat...

Sounds like North Korea is up to the same old shiat. Trying to broker a deal with the US alone, instead of being held to working with all the region's interested parties, i.e. the US, China, South Korea, Russia, and Japan.

1) Keep your people isolated, poor, and starving to the point where they literally have to pick thru shiat for undigested corn kernels.

2) Brainwash them from the moment they're born, train them to project their anger and blame their poverty on some vague foreign enemy called "Mericans".

3) Profit?

Bet Kim is dead or totally incapacitated by the stroke/brain cancer he had earlier this year. This is probably coming from his successor who might be less insane that he was.

Friskya: The Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, you say?

Yes. So, according to the impeccable logic of many Farkers here, No. Korea is a democracy, all our work has been done, and there is no longer anything to fear from either Kim Jong-Il, his zombie, or whatever consortium of corrupt pickled generals is actually running the nation.

Because we all know that whatever a ruling party is called, that is what it actually is. Right? Just like the NSDAP was really made of socialists.

I've got a friend in the military serving on the North/South Korean border. I almost never get to hear from him because national service isn't exactly conductive to lounging online all day (reason 252 why I won't enlist). Last I heard they were barred from holding up pornography for people across the border. That country is hell and our government isn't doing a thing to help.

You're right - that has always amused me. Any country that names itself as a "republic" or "democratic"...isn't.

WHY??!??!

I'd think we'd want to do anything we can to turn the N. Koreans against their deranged and oppressive government and yearn to enter the free world of the 19th Century at least. Send 'em all the porn we've got! And candy! and Coke! and Jack Daniels! Make that country as decadent and capitalist as possible!

2010-01-01 08:47:18 PM
North Korean's pretty much despise the West and see the South Korea's as misguided. Any piece talks initiated by N. Korea will not result in anything. The best thing to do is completely cut off all aid and hope that N. Korea collapses.

I enlisted...on my third enlistment in fact. At work now lounging online and I'm getting a kick out of your comment. However, there is no surfing of porn at work so that's something the military has to work on IMO.

BTW, I have been to the DMZ and saw North Korean troops. There are very strict rules. One of which was that you were under no circumstances to gesture towards the North in any way. The North Koreans could use that for what I was told to be photo propoganda. The propoganda being that you pointing towards the North would suggest that you want to become a North Korean citizen or something along those lines if the right caption was used with the picture.

/Cool story?
