A standoff at a central Colorado Springs motel has ended after police entered the motel room in question, and it was empty.

Police had been on scene at the Aztec Motel near Platte Avenue and Swope Street for more than two hours. Police are not releasing information on who the wanted party is or what that person is wanted for.

Lt. David Whitlock, police spokesman, said the person is not considered a danger to the public.

Clearly the absence of a problem created one.

Did they still taze the room, just to be safe?

But that won't stop them from tasing/beating him if they find him.

The FAIL tag would've been more appropriate; it would apply to the police as well as the journalist.

ah the good old CS Swat Team.
they have a long storied history of idiocy.
many moons ago they stormed in on our church youth group meeting with shotguns and escorted us to "safety" as they handled a dangerous violent criminal on a rampage and threatening to kill his wife. after calling in the mini-tank, scaring the crap out of a bunch of innocent sheltered little christian girls, and evacuating the entire apartment complex, they managed to finally rescue the woman from her crazed homicidal husband... who it turns out had her held hostage in the corner of their apartment... with a plastic butter knife to her throat.
TO PROTECT AND SERVE!

Occasionally I'll catch an episode of Dallas S.W.A.T., and I always find it morbidly amusing when they do one of these standoffs, and are well into the night when they finally decide to grow a pair and storm the house, only to find that they've been lobbing tear gas canisters at a bunch of dead bodies for the last three hours.

/They're brave, brave men
//Well after the hostage situation has turned into a murder/suicide that is

FTFA:
Police spokesman Lt. David Whitlock said the person was not considered a danger to the public.

This morning, however, police said they are seeking a woman who is wanted on attempted murder charges in Rapid City, S.D., in the shooting of her father and stabbing of her mother.

Hmm, not a danger to the public? Attempted murderer, and they called in the SWAT team? Riiiight.....
