Well if you are already going to prison for a really long time you might as well go to prison with the reputation of being a total badass.

From what I hear prisoners don't like cops for some reason. Shooting one cop and stabbing another while already in jail for multiple bank robberies should go over quite well with his future prisonmates.

Well, sure, after you STAB them. Once the guy is bleeding out, grabbing his gun is usually not hard. The cops don't generally go into the cells with guns drawn.
