I often don't care for these lists.
A weird way of picking persists.
But anyone hating
On Henson is baiting
An argument fresh from my fists.

2009-12-30 11:19:31 AM
Yeah, I'd definitely pick The Great Muppet Caper over The Muppet Movie.

You shut your whore mouth about the greatest musical ever made.

Dog Day Afternoon wasn't a musical.

Hey, how're you guys fixin' to pay?
What are our choices?
A: Credit card; B: Cash; C: Sneak out in the middle of the night.
We'll take C.
Pops: Very popular choice.

Also:

What's wrong with the drummer? He looks a little crazed.
Oh, he's just upset about missing the Rembrandt exhibit at the National Gallery.
RENOIR!

And, of course:

We're going to catch those crooks red-handed.
What color are their hands now?

You, sir, stand rebutted.

UNC Samurai

Kermit: That's pretty dangerous building a road in the middle of the street. I mean, if frogs couldn't hop, I'd be gone with the Schwinn.

El Sleezo Patron: Hello, sailor, buy me a drink?
Kermit: Well, you see, I'm not a sailor, I'm a frog.
El Sleezo Patron: Oh, cut the small talk and buy me a drink.
Kermit: I don't even know you.
El Sleezo Tough: Hey. Did you make a move with my girl?
Kermit: No, sir.
El Sleezo Patron: He did too. He touched me.
El Sleezo Tough: Ugh. Wash up, you'll get warts.
Kermit: That's a myth.
El Sleezo Tough: Yeah, but she's my "myth"!
Kermit: No, no, myth, myth!
Myth: Yeth?

This is a Big Bird

I came in here to post something about Kermit singing the Rainbow Connection, but you beat me to it and with a great link ta-boot.

But, Cthulu is a Great Old One, not an Elder God.
And so because of that you will have to die now.

Came here to defend The Muppet Movie. Left unneeded.

It deserves the spot given its originality and daring. Isn't this the tab where we moan about lack of both in Hollywood these days?

There's nothing inexplicable about awesomeness. It's more like incomprehensible, but in a good way.

I think the ending of that movie is responsible for my penchant for fourth wall breaking and generally farked up storytelling.

Muppet Treasure Island

2009-12-30 02:24:04 PM
Why is it inexplicable? It's a movie and it has Muppets in it. What's difficult about this? It's a national treasure.

Muppet Christmas Carol is awesome if only for the part where Beaker flips off Michael Caine.

/Muppet Movie still the best though

If you get the Muppets to do a version of Dog Day Afternoon, you get my undying loyalty.

I just listened to that, it's my favorite Muppet song. If you like it, do not, for the love of god, do not listen to the new version they put out within the last decade. It turns it into a bland adult contemporary piece of shiat.

OH a pox on all of us!
i244.photobucket.com

This looks familiar, vaguely familiar,
Almost unreal, yet, it's too soon to feel yet.
Close to my soul, and yet so far away.
I'm going to go back there someday.

Sun rises, night falls, sometimes the sky calls.
Is that a song there, and do I belong there?
I've never been there, but I know the way.
I'm going to go back there someday.

Come and go with me, it's more fun to share,
We'll both be completely at home in midair.
We're flyin', not walkin', on featherless wings.
We can hold onto love like invisible strings.

There's not a word yet for old friends who've just met.
Part heaven, part space, or have I found my place?
You can just visit, but I plan to stay.
I'm going to go back there someday.
I'm going to go back there someday.

I find the audio on this one (new window) to be better but the video is clips from Life on Mars? (not sure if it's the British or American version).

I envy the 14-armed radioactive cockroach-human hybrid mutants who will crack that vault in 2177. I can only hope that English has survived so they can still comprehend and enjoy Dr. Strangelove.

Are you kidding? That will be their equivalent of a Creation Myth. "And lo did Slim Pickens' ride the Holy Bomb from Darth Vader's plane. Verily, it did burst below, and send the Great Old Ones burrowing in the Earth, as we do burrow, and lo, it is a holy sacrament."

Muppet Movie and Caper are better but I was 7 when Muppets Take Manhattan came out, so that's where my nostalgia lies.

Joan Rivers: I had some bad tuna fish myself.
