Please don't let some run-of-the-mill hipster ruin this for me.

2009-12-29 04:09:12 PM
But I thought he was very good at playing the generic awkward teenager in stupid movie I didn't see.

You can't reduce a probability below zero percent.

any chances Ghostbusters 3 has to be any good

What are "slim" and "none," Alex?

He's probably going to singlehandedly prevent the return of Ecto Cooler, too, the doofus-y sonuvabiatch.

There was never a chance this movie was going to be good.

Are you concerned that a third movie won't live up to the uh... astounding disappointment that was the second?

shivashakti: There was never a chance this movie was going to be good.

Unfortunately, I concur. Every time Dan Aykroyd reveals one of his ideas for the movie, it's like he's stabbing me right in the heart. Keep in mind this is the man who made "Blues Brothers 2000."

Oh, man, that belongs in the 'worst movie ever' thread from yesterday. Or today. Forget which.

Right. The original Blues Brothers was a classic. And Dan Aykroyd ruined it by trying to fill the sequel with cutesy elements (or by trying to make a sequel in the first place). And I don't think he's learned.

So much THIS in this thread. So here is my 2 cents.

1. This kid is actually one of the best young actors I've ever seen. I know he really only has the one move "awkward teenager", but he does it better than anyone.

2. There was never a chance this movie was going to be good.

In conclusion, Subby's an idiot

He hasn't had a hit movie in a very long time. He's reduced to doing commercials for Crystal Skull vodka. He knows a Ghostbusters sequel would make good money, even if it sucks and I imagine he's just content with mediocrity. With whoring out what's left of his career in order to make ends meet.

What's next, Dan? Trading Places 2? Eddie Murphy could probably use the money.

How about "My Stepmother is Still an Alien?"

Was that a ghost? I don't like ghosts, they remind me of the time I dreamt that I wore pajama's on the bus. That was bad, but so was school, and I didn't have any friends, so I guess it's alright. This is my big gig, it'll make me cool, but was that a ghost? Did you know I watch Ghost Hunters on TV? Ghosts are cool, but I'm scared, but I mean, I'm not scared, unless it's cool to be scared, but if you're not scared I'm not scared, but are you scared?

When did everyone turn against Michael Cera? I don't really understand the backlash against him.

Maybe he's a little one-note, but young actors can grow pretty quickly.

2009-12-30 01:42:17 AM
Thats like saying rick morranis would have ruined the first movie. Did the subby see some movie I didnt where all the ghostbusters were super suave james bond types saving blonde swedish models?

2009-12-30 01:43:56 AM
Can't stand the kid. He has one note and he usually fouls that up but good. He is irrelevant to this discussion however since there is nothing he could do to make this movie suck any more than it does.

Watch a commercial for Youth in Revolt and tell me you don't want to punch something.

FTR Crystal Head Vodka is actually Dan Akroyd's own pet project. He didn't just sell his career up the river by promoting it.

Isn't the entire cast of Arrested Development one note actors? I thought that show was in good graces among the Fark crowd.

I equate Ghostbusters 3 with a Kyuss reunion. It just ain't meant to be.

Isn't there all ready a Ghostbusters 3?

I swear I've played on XBox.

What's more.... I liked it.

[shrug]

I liked him in Arrested Development and Superbad. Haven't seen his other films, but I wouldn't have a problem with this, provided they don't go the route of Shia and The Crystal Skull.

We didn't. We just don't trust Dan Aykroyd any further than we can throw him.

Psst. He's not doing commercials for Crystal Skull because he's been reduced to it. It's his brand.

That being said, I wish he'd make something that doesn't suck like his vodka (yum) doesn't suck filmwise.

Uhh, yeah that's not acting, dude. Y'see, real actors can do more than one character. MC is nothing more than a lucky hack who stumbled into fame. I rate him up there with Megan Fox and prety much everyone who starred in the Twilight movies. He sucks and should be killed with fire.

I think it has more to do with everyone tired of being over exposed with him. With the exception on Zombieland, he has payed every awkward dork in every major Movie and in Arrested development. He fits his roles good. Dane Cook plays a very good over 30s douchebag highschool failure, too. But if all you can do is that one slot, you are a shiatty actor.

/MC has some promise
//Maybe eat more food or workout
///no more 13 year old mustaches.

You've got to be kidding me. No seriously, you're going to say that DeNero is a one-note tune? We'll just have to disagree on that one, my friend.

Mehm too tired to read the thread, but he's more of the Ray character than the Bill Murray character.

Sorry dude, but you're Michael Cera, and while youve typecast yourself into a nice money making niche that will get you laid for the next 30 years (so yeah, I'm jealous) you sir are no Bill Murray.

2009-12-30 03:02:30 AM
I actually wouldn't have a problem with this if they really wanted it to happen. The chances of Rick Moranis coming back are slim to none since he doesn't act these days, so why not use Michael Cera instead? Not that the character is necessary in any way, but he'd fit as Louis Tully Junior.

Pretty much. Aykroyd and Ramis wrote it, they got most of the original cast back for the voice acting (including Janine and Walter Peck), and it was good.

The Ghostbusters game has restored my faith in Ghostbusters 3. At least until they do something to dash it again.

2009-12-30 03:13:03 AM
It NEVER had a chance of being any good at all. Michael Cera might actually improve things.

I'm sick of him. He needs to go away now.

And Ghostbusters 3 can be good. It can! I have all sorts of hope and blind faith!!!

Yeah, his point was that Michael Cera didn't play that part, but has played every other awkward dork.

They can't help it. Poor sheep, craving acceptance, trashing what their fellow sheep trash and not really knowing why. Baaaaa, Baaaaaa. Flailing lazily in life. Like fronds of seaweed, but not as usefull.

He also has a line of wines. I'm not much of a drinker, though, so I haven't tried them and I couldn't tell you if they are any good.

I'm super nervous about whether Ghostbusters 3 will suck. I think (hope) with Harold Ramis working with him, it'll keep him grounded enough to produce a script that doesn't suck. Aykroyd is a man of decent ideas, he just needs someone to reign him in. Otherwise he goes full on crazy. Remember, his original vision for the first Ghostbusters was pretty out there. It was the collaboration process that kept us from having a movie about an inter-dimensional SWAT team flying through space. I think he and Ramis are completely capable of making another good script -- just look at the video game. I feel like I'm so late to the party with the video game, but I just got it and I've been completely enamored with it. Is it the best game ever? Eh, probably not. But damn if it isn't fun. It feels like the movies. More than that, I feel like I did when I was a kid watching the movies for the first time, and that is a cool feeling

Not only that, but he's responsible for bringing Patron into Canada. If you see it at a liquor store, Dan Akroyd is the reason for it. I would also like to add that The Arrow Program will NOT be cancelled!

My only issue with the game is Bill, its like he showed up on audio set only because his hand was forced. His lines are often read like he doesn't want to even be there or be involved.

Everyone else on the other hand, seems like they genuinely enjoy themselves during the making and it comes across in how well the characters translate to the different medium.

Im slightly ashamed for admitting it, but I would do naughty nasty things to Annie Potts
