I think that needs a "You're doing it wrong" or FAIL tag.

Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way? What's the matter with kids today?

Someone tell all the porn producers and divorce lawyers that their services are no longer needed. I'm sure it will be a big relief for them, seeing as there is no money in either of those fields these days.

2009-12-29 12:50:23 PM
Perhaps sex doesn't sell as well because kids these days have so many more options.

And the guy that's seeing this 'trend' is a college professor? Damn, I'm glad I went to school when drugs and sex were still really, really popular.

I'm showing my individuality by not getting a tattoo.

2009-12-29 01:02:26 PM
Parents not bringing their seven-year-olds to R-rated movies must mean that teenagers aren't having sex anymore?

VictoryCabal: I'm showing my individuality by not getting a tattoo.

Oh yeah, well I'm not getting a tribal tattoo. I just think it's more meaningful than the tattoo you're not getting.

Kids these days. Hey junior, get the f*ck off facebook, put your cell phone down and smoke this joint. What the f*ck has gotten into you?!

More meaningful than the Taz tattoo I'm not getting? Hmph!

I wonder how much of it has to do with the laxing morals of our culture?

That is... things are more appealing when they are forbidden... now-a-days under-aged drinking and drugs (to a lesser extent) are far more acceptable... so they are less appealing as some risky forbidden thing to do.

Similarly, we no longer pressure young women to get married the moment they get knocked up, and the age of first-time-married keeps going up and up - meaning more mature adults are entering into marriages they really want to be in rather than rushing in just because she got pregnant at 17. And who would've thought that rational adults getting married for the right reasons would be less likely to divorce?

Well nothing's more meaningful than the tattoo of Chinese letters that I think means "strength" that I'm not getting.

People don't care about sex in movies because creepier, skankier, nastier sex is available for free in the privacy of their own computer for free.

FTFA: "These researchers really put that belief to the test and crunched the numbers," Jacob said. "What I took from the study is that a hint of sex is perhaps more enticing than out-and-out nudity."

If people want porn they know where to find it for free.

Text sex. Keep it under 140 characters and always use protection.

Well, Gen X was pretty much a waste, so that didn't help. And the Baby Boomers have just farked everything up. So maybe it's time for a generation that isn't a complete disaster.

Um, what? Gen X dragged the world kicking and screaming into the information age. We did our job.

My g/f's 17 year old nieces tell a much different story. If it wasn't for all the drugs back then, I'd probably be able to remember if they're having more fun than I did.

Sex doesn't sell because it's trivial to find porn for free on the Internet.

Every generation thinks their music didn't suck, everything that came before it was lame, and everything that came after is just noise.

New form of rebellion against the older generation includes "not doing drugs, not sleeping around and not getting divorced."

Turning rebellion into money ♫

This same story has been put out continuously for the last twenty years, and kids are still getting high and farking.

So the BS trend piece is no longer monopolized by USAToday?

I guess this is the end of rainbow parties, teen hookers, the soulless hookup culture, sexting, and the epidemic of teen oral sex. Glad I don't have to worry about those trends any more.

Lumox: Kids these days. Hey junior, get the f*ck off facebook, put your cell phone down and smoke this joint. What the f*ck has gotten into you?!

They're too busy playing Farmville and Fishville and Farkville. It's too much work to do things in real life. Point and click and point and click and point and click...

Dumbass kids can't get anything right.

The top-grossing films in the study included movies like "Shrek 2;" "Spider-Man;" "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," all of which contained mostly minor to mild sex and/or nudity.

What?

When you can see the most vile porn on demand for free seeing a set of tits in an R movie just ain't that great. And, kids do plenty of mood altering drugs nowadays they just happened to be prescribed to them.

I always thought I was being a rebel by not getting tattoos or earrings.

Also, while sexting is great, BUTTsexting is awesome!

Of course sex doesn't sell, except when it comes to advertising... when you're trying to sell someone something.

Niiiiiiiice!

And also, what, is the img1.fark.net tag busy getting laid or something? I do not have any confidence in the veracity of this story. CNN has a horrid history when it comes to reporting shiat like this, and the professor's evidence to the claim in the headline boils down to, 'I think that's what the kids in my class are probably like.' Real scientific.
