Those lions aren't so proud now, I'll betcha.

2009-12-29 01:56:02 PM
that was almost as good as the polar bear getting beaten up by the seal pups in a snow storm...

Hippos are known for biting if provoked. In Africa you're far more likely to be killed by a hippo than a lion. Even people who deal with animals for a living aren't too crazy about getting anywhere near hippos. Not only can their bite crush a person, they can ran about 25 mph in short bursts. In other words, faster than you for just long enough to catch you.

Come on, don't knock them for keeping up with the times, dialup is the next big thing and it will take some time to get it all working properly. I hear they are looking into getting more than one phone line also. Some of the bigger companies these days have as many as five!

Lions are Africa's biatches - even more proof.

Those were some hungry hungry lions.

I was hoping to get a close up of the lioness' crunched head.

I figured the lions would tear 'im from top to bottomus.

This was an awesome vid. It was well shot (sure the camera work was a bit shaky but the cameraman (or woman) did a brilliant job of keeping track of the action. And it was a pretty incredible event too. I thought the poor little calf was goner when the croc started weighing in too. And then all of a sudden the buffalo's return. That bit when they reappear and then sort of line up before getting their final bit of courage to move in was fantastic.

I still think the poor calf might have died though. Not sure but he probably got some pretty nasty wounds from that attack.

I agree - between the lion bites and the crocodile nearly tearing its leg off, that calf was in poor shape by the end.

My favourite part is the accented guide's voice, which starts out so nonchalant and ends in complete "I've never seen this before" disbelief.

I don't know why, but I love it when the supposed prey turns the tables on the predator.

I still see ads for NetZero on TV telling people to ditch broadband to save money, so I guess there are still some people on dialup.

The way the video plays it's "Oh I'll run away a bit, oh look their nibbling on me, nibbling on me some more, ok enough of this shiat"

Those lions suck at life.

So.. did that one lion die or not? I would assume so.. but it wasn't exactly clear.

2009-12-29 04:50:53 PM
Do not fark with hippos.

2009-12-29 05:07:12 PM
I am surprised no one has commented on the quickness of the hippo's strike. Just like the narrator said, the lion never even saw it coming. I had no idea a hippo could move that giant head so fast..scary.

That clip had everything. Drama, comedy, horror, the only thing it was missing was bears playing hockey! Good find.

Thought this was funny.

Though I think the little doggy would probubly act differently without all the bipeds standing around.

The hippo just grazes on plants for its entire life--who the hell wants to cheer for that boring creature? Predators, on the other hand, have to use every muscle in their body and their mind just to fill their belly every day. Creatures that only eat veggies are pussies, and so are the people that enjoy creatures that only eat veggies.

You watch those nature documentaries on the cable? You see the one about lions? You got this hippo. He's the king of the Savannah, huge mane out to here. He's floating under a log, in the middle of Africa. He's so big, it's so hot. He doesn't want to move. Now the little lions come, they start messing with him. Biting his tail, biting his ears. He doesn't do anything. The lioness, she starts messing with him. Coming over, making trouble. Still nothing. Now the other animals, they notice this. They start to move in. The jackals; hyenas. They're barking at him, laughing at him. They nip his toes, and eat the food that's in his domain. They do this, then they get closer and closer, bolder and bolder. Till one day, that hippo gets up and tears the shiat out of everybody. Charges like the wind, eats everything in his path. Cause every once in a while, the hippo has to show the jackals, who he is.

Looked to me like the lions won. Several lions mauling a small water buffalo, then it gets caught in a tug of war between the lions and a croc...How far you willing to bet it was able to go before it succumbed to its wounds? Obviously, I'm speculating here, but methinks it was easy pickins a few minutes later for them thar lions.

Like we all didn't already know that the Lions can't tackle for shiat.

That's what my wife thought, too, but I'm not so sure. I imagine hippo hide is pretty thick. I'm thinking the little dude may have survived.

Apparantly neither you nor your wife can recognize a Cape Buffalo.

/Basically, don't mess with anything in Africa

Dorf11: Lions are Africa's biatches - even more proof.

Nice find. Most humans would have ran away from a similar situation since it wouldn't directly affect them. We're taught to yell "fire" instead of "rape" so that someone actually comes to the rescue. If there were a god, he would have figured out a way for living things to sustain themselves without killing another living thing. And yes, eating a vegetarian diet is also killing another living thing. In a world created by a loving god, life would not be a zero-sum game.
