In America it's much more possible from what I understand; ie welfare is basically just for children and for people with children, etc. As a financially failed single person, it is indeed quite possible to end up on the streets from my understanding.

Overall though, poverty in the West really is much more about Relative Deprivation than about absolutes. Having perspective can fix most of the negative impact of it. Easier said than done though, that's for sure.

It would be difficult for a single person in the US to end up homeless. You would need a combination of severe mental illness along with numerous poor life choices.

Yes actually they can.

It is called guerrilla warfare.

It is responsible for the US losing wars. it is responsible for many deaths.

And that was against foreigners. 50% of the military would easily drop their weapons and join the other side if it came to firing on their own people.

Don't forget, most of those military storehouses of weapons are not that well guarded and could easily be taken over.
