I liked the movie, but he totally came of as a weekend soldier of fortune in that movie. He character was sooooo unbelievable. Not that any of them were for that matter.

De Niro was supposed to come off that way--he wasn't even really a merc, just a deep cover agent.

And it was early in Bean's career, maybe he didn't have that rider built into his contract? Personally, I think it's a deep-seated fear of commitment and sequels.

Last time I checked 'words of wisdom' were supposed to be advice based on experience, not a sarcastic question/retort from a movie (which, taken without context from a man in his 60s, sounds just plain dumb).

Sean Bean isn't a poor man's anything. He's 006, for Chrissakes. He kicked Bond's ass. Although yeah, he does die in just about every movie he's in. Steve Buscemi at least was the only survivor in Reservoir Dogs and Con Air. But he played it safe as a waiter in Pulp Fiction.

I don't think he survived in Reservoir Dogs. Once he leaves the warehouse you hear a whole lot of gunshots outside.

I suppose it's possible that he made it, but it seems unlikely.

I would wager every hollywood casting brainstorm has sessions where they hit a spot in the script where a character dies, and they immediately put Sean Bean's name on the list of agents to call.

Any walking penis who has 5 kids with 3 different women, and spends a minimal amount of time with any of them because of the oppressive requirements of his "art", has no business doling out words of "wisdom" to anyone, since he's not in any way a wise man. I guess De Niro decided to emulate his own dad and be a crap father.

His reasoning is flawed on several angles.

You cannot consider yourself a good father if you have spawned off 5 children with several women and still think you will have time to tend every single one of them and not play favorites or have time to find yourself.

Once you have children the time for introspectiveness is over. Be a father, don't be a neglectful asshat!
