on a serious note though, hopefully bringing the project to new orleans will employ a lot of people there and help rebuild the city.

How could you butcher one of the gayest superheroes ever?

The only thing deadlier I can imagine is Batman with a power ring.

Oh who cares? Honestly, this is one of the lamest superheroes ever anyway. A power ring that he has to charge up and it doesn't work on anything yellow?

What good is a superhero you could kill with a number 2 pencil?

Luckily a louisville slugger could take out the green lantern.

I think you're thinking of Alan Scott, who's weakness is wood.

burndtdan: wait, they gave a ring of power to deadpool?

I thought there were rules that one was only allowed to play one superhero?

2009-12-28 01:29:00 PM
This movie will be very good, on a par with the Nolan Batman movies and Favreau's Iron Man films. DC and Warner Bros. have been awakened to the fact that well-financed, well-cast, well-written superhero movies from their stable can bring in BILLIONS of dollars, so they'll do everything right from now on.

Hopefully.

That being said, I have high hopes for this film. The entire Green Lantern mythology has unlimited potential, and I think Ryan Reynolds is a perfect choice for cocky, fearless test pilot Hal Jordan. Reynolds has proved himself a successful movie star doing mostly comedies, and any actor will tell you it's much more difficult to be successful in comedy than in any other mainstream film genre.

Isn't Burt Reynolds a little old to play Green Lantern?

Will there be a giant mechanical spider? Because that's always a good idea for a movie.

I guess this means he's not going to be playing the Flash. I thought he'd fit that role, not this one. I always thought of GL as a sort of elder statesman type (as indicated by the grey hair) and Reynolds is too young.

What do girls kill? Puppies?

As a male with fully heterosexual tendencies, Ryan Reynolds is an impressively attractive man. Plus he has pretty good comedic timing.

amindtat: Will there be a giant mechanical spider? Because that's always a good idea for a movie.

Because spiders are the most ferocious animals in the insect kingdom, that's why.

They got rid of the grey hair, too.

Hal Jordan was in his mid-20s when he was chosen by a dying Abin Sur to become the GL of Sector 2814. Reynolds is no Oscar winner, but he can probably pull that off...

Actually this was already done (new window) as an Elseworlds comic one-shot. Batman was also offered a yellow power ring from the Sinestro Corps - for his ability to inspire great fear - but wasn't able to keep it due to his prior exposure to a green power ring. Needless to say there's a detailed blog about it (new window), but I would think Bruce Wayne would quickly dethrone the cocky Sinestro since he's the goddamn Batman.

if you amend the rule to being "an actor playing 2 comic book characters" then Reynolds already broke it when he played deadpool.
