What wrong with the Scots? My wife and I love turkey and the fixin's so much I always buy a huge bird and make double portions of each dish so I can portion it out to be frozen and eaten over the next month or so.

I have this newfangled thing called a freezer. I eat my fill of turkey, then freeze the rest until I want more.

I was pretty disgusted with myself when I threw away about 8 dollars worth of some pretty high quality smoked turkey breast after Thanksgiving. Then I took out the trash and had some ham before I threw away about 6 pounds of it a few days later, disgustedly. I was too lazy to cook, and with all the cheap pizza deals going on, why bother? So my husband fired up the gas guzzler and went to pick it up while I shopped for expensive crap nobody really wants for Christmas with prestigious brand names. We're in debt too! And fat! I haven't gotten off the couch all day because I'm surrounded by amazing electronics and have a butter cookie tin! And what a fabulous couch it is, I bet it took 20 cows to make. This house has like twelve other rooms and I probably should vaccum or something disgusting like that. But I'm going to have to fire up the sportscar tomorrow because I have $300 worth of gift cards and they aren't spending themselves dammit!

Don't forget about the massive numbers of hamburgers, steaks, franks and ribs that are eaten on Independence Day, trollboi. And we do the same thing again on Memorial and Veterans Day because we love to eat flameburned overcooked meat in remembrance of all the people we've bombed over the years!

I don't know why people feel like having a turkey makes a special meal. I have turkey sandwiches every work day, mostly because it tastes good and turkey meat is relatively cheap.

Yes, by all means, have turkey for your holiday celebrations. But also consider a nice bit of ham, or lamb, or venison, or any of the other delicious meats that are available in the world.

You know.. I love Turkey... a lot... But I'm pretty sure it is so popular at holidays because you can feed meat to 20 people for like $23.22 or so and still have leftovers. I'm pretty sure a crown roast of beef is going to set you back quite a bit more than that.

I would, if I knew what the heck mole poblano was. Whatever it is, hopefully it's not spicy. Unfortunately I can't do spicy foods.

It is, a bit. Making it from scratch is a many-hour, complicated process, but you can buy the paste pre-made. It's an ancient Aztec dish of poultry (usually) stewed or covered in a sauce made from poblano chiles, chocolate, bread crumbs, pumpkin seeds, sesame, and tons more stuff. Has a nice, rich, earthy flavor. It is a bit spicy, though, so maybe not for you.

Sounds good, but we're huge fans of turkey hash. Finely diced turkey & potatoes, mix in leftover turkey gravy & fry in the skillet. It's good with cornbread, biscuits or the rest of the package of brown & serve rolls.

My breakfast favorite was always "stuffed stuffing". Make two large (pancake-size) patties of stuffing, then put chopped turkey, cranberry sauce and Swiss cheese on one, put the other on top, pinch shut, then fry on both sides until golden brown and crispy. Freakin' great!

Turkey is for Thanksgiving.

We had (and are still having) some fine standing rib roast.

The ham we got as a gift will go well with the black eyed peas on New Year's Day.

Oh good lord not me. Normally, yes. But this year we didn't go whole hog per say, and instead just bought a couple turkey breast roasts.
