A new manly sport!

/ Seriously, this could enhance two different skill sets.

I want a miniature predator drone.

2009-12-26 03:26:55 PM
that was beautiful...

2009-12-26 03:31:32 PM
Neato.

2009-12-26 03:33:34 PM
That was awesome.

2009-12-26 03:36:11 PM
ridiculously cool. The crowd running for their life was kinda funny

//can't wait for the first PTSD reaction to this video from some veteran aviator..

Haha! That looks like a whole lot of fun.

Videos like this make me think the liberal middle class (me) should think again about the NRA and shotguns.

What does that mean? That the guy flying the drone should be allowed to arm it to fire back?

Mobius One, Incoming!

2009-12-26 06:27:08 PM
Okay--that looks like it is about seventeen shades of kickass, but the video needs a money shot.

/It's all about the explosions.

Didn't read the Terminator reference in the previous sentence, did you? Just to spell it out: he wants something better than fireworks to shoot at SKYNET's hunter-killer drones.

Cool.

UNC_Samurai: Mobius One, Incoming!

He's so close. If he manages to stay alive for just a while longer, that pilot could be a worthy opponent.

I muted it and played the Star Wars theme for when the 4 Tie Fighters were strafing the Millenium Falcon.

Very cool, subby.

2009-12-26 06:45:34 PM
at times, rather than looking like the drone was being shot at, it looked more like the drone was doing its best impression of a Spectre firing its artillery at ground objectives

What the military does for $2 million, you can do for $1 thousand or less.

Well, except for the extended range, increase payload, high performance sensors, satellite link, and potentially weapons.

2009-12-26 06:49:30 PM
Now that was cool. Bonus points for the PTZ camera (or was it only PT or P?) and good video editing.

Well, at least it doesn't feel like a giant kick to the balls when your thousand dollar project gets its video feed hacked by a 26 dollar piece of software

Does anyone else notice that Fark is pretty much the best links of Reddit on a five hour delay? The headlines and comments are far better here, but it seems that this vast internet only yields so many interesting stories per day. Or, we're too lazy to do any real looking for ourselves any more.

What was the kit he was flying?

2009-12-26 07:09:39 PM
Of the things I would teach my children, holding fireworks in your hand while aiming them towards expensive moving objects would not be high on the list.
It is a cool video, though. It went downhill when the editing started syncing with the song, but that's to be expected with people who like to edit.

2009-12-26 07:09:42 PM
Way cool. I now have a reason to learn to fly RC planes........and an additional reason break the fireworks laws.

Dinobot: Well, at least it doesn't feel like a giant kick to the balls when your thousand dollar project gets its video feed hacked by a 26 dollar piece of software

The video feed on your $1,000 plane isn't a super-duper military proprietary video feed that a defense contractor hacked together in order to run up the cost, rather than using off-the-shelf stuff. Your $1,000 plane DOES have an off-the-shelf camera, which means you can encrypt it with another $26 piece of software.

Although as long as the current and next generation of military drones are doomed to broadcast in the clear, for fun we ought to send out a few drones over Pakistan that are broadcasting this video.

This same video was submitted seven hours ago, but since the headline wasn't up to snuff, it was passed over. Happens a lot.

It's been a long-held desire of mine to build one of those balsa B-24 models with four gas engines, fill the empty spaces with black powder and then go to town on it with some home-made flak.

I would've loved reading the police reports, seeing what he told the paramedics, and how it was listed for the insurance companies. And seeing his wife chew him out for darwinating the kids.

Still, very cool.

When I was a boy I thought long and hard about doing this, damn liberal parents.

Don't blame your being a pussy on your parents. I had liberal parents too. I used to put m-80s in the second stage of my model rockets and was responsible for the bomb squad being called to graduation.

Where's FLYNAVY when we need him?

Look up Killer RC helicopter on youtube. It's much cooler to have an automatic shotgun on a RC.

2009-12-26 07:41:56 PM
Would have been better had somebody hit it then it spiraled out of control right into some kids face.

Very cool

Still healing up those second and third assholes that were ripped into him.

Yup. Very cool.

Any one know the name of the song? It sounded like AC/DC...

FTFA: Giz reader BushmanLA sent in a video of his kids trying to shoot down his flying R/C drone with fireworks.

Hmm, someone is not clear on the concept. The term "R/C drone" is redundant. All R/C planes are "drones" and always have been. The term "drone" is only necessary in the military to distinguish unmanned from manned aircraft.

SO MUCH THIS!!!!!

Also did you notice he said sparklers instead of bottle rockets.
Thanks for keeping the internet honest.

I'm making fun of you in case you are unsure

Actually though, if he would have said "flying rc plane drone" you would have been correct. "flying rc drone" makes him correct. I'm sure you have heard of autonomous flying drones.

That was about 5 different kinds of awesome. Hilarious watching everyone scatter as the plane buzzed them.

They looked like "festival balls". Now try a few 3" salutes and you're talking days to glue that sucker back together!

There's a lot of opportunity for target fixation Darwinism in that video.

I like the one with the kids. Kids should be allowed to have fun. With fire.
