Oh, hey, fun, more reason for potential tourists to go out of their way to avoid the US even as an emergency landing. (If you're flying from, say, Toronto to Mexico City, and your plane conks out and you end up skidding into Dallas, everyone has to go through US security even though nobody had any intention of even touching US soil.)

TSA is a bunch of self-serving idiots who will institute new "security" measures just to justify their own paychecks and budget. It doesn't matter worth jack if the measures actually work (which they won't -- this guy boarded in Amsterdam, so the Dutch were responsible for his screening), as long as the rules generate more overtime hours. These failed attacks are great news for TSA, since they keep people scared and prove that the threat is real (which it is).
