It is a bit of a stretch, but in the movie Vertigo, the character played by Jimmy Stewart was nicknamed "Scotty."

So that's three.

Since we're talking about Scotland, wouldn't a 'Stagger of Fame' be more appropriate?

I like it. The sidewalk "stars" could be puke splatter preserved in concrete.

Ms Campbell, an SNP MSP, has written to Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop suggesting the idea.

She said: "Scotland has made a huge contribution to the world and it is only right that we celebrate the success Scots have achieved at home and abroad.

She said artists and cultural stars such as John Byrne, Robbie Coltrane and Irvine Welsh could be honoured either with plaques or a star on the street.

Ok, lets analyse this suggestion...

John Byrne - who?
Robbie Coltrane - plays a fat drunk pretty well
Irvine Welsh - writes books about drug abusing Tourette's sufferers

Yup. A huge contribution to the world, right enough.

Gay boys in tights (not that there's anything wrong with that) is hardly something to be proud of. Accept the fact that the rest of the world is jealous of your fine whisky, and be proud of that. Damn proud.

Shatner's Bassoon: John Byrne - who?

If it's the John Byrne I'm thinking of, he's a well-known comic book writer and artist... but not Scottish. Born in England, grew up in Canada, became a US citizen as an adult.
