Getting lost in a huge crowd in a place where access is restricted sounds proper to me.

It would actually be a good place to avoid the press, I think. People in general though, not so much. The week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest week of the year at Disney World. It's apparently insanely crowded.

I don't think it's a bad idea. They can lose the press, it's doubtful anyone would recognize them, and those awkward silent moments are filled with rides and 20 dollar hamburgers.

Good for you dad.

I'm so happy for the father and so sad for the grandparents. I really hope that the boy can stay in contact with his Brazilian family although I certainly would understand why this may not happen.
It sounds like a very fitting holiday season for this American family.

I think it's a fantastic idea. The press can't follow them there, you know the kid will have fun, and it'll be a good bonding time for them to get to know each other again.

I can guarantee that they have their own personal Disney employee escort at all times in the parks. Disney isn't going to let someone with this much media exposure get away. Hell, the whole trip is probably comp'd by Disney, and they're staying in an executive suite somewhere onsite. The Dad is going to have just as much fun as the kid - probably more as he's going to be pampered, Disney style.

It's a sad story no matter who you sympathize with. But what would you feel if you married a woman and have a son, she goes off to Brazil with your beloved 4-year old son (remember, they were a family for four years), and then your wife suddenly divorced you and stayed with the kid in Brazil to marry some lawyer.

While I feel sad for the Brazilian family that has spent just a year longer with the child, the question is, can you really blame this dad when you put yourself in his shoes?

Was someone blaming the dad? Naw, unless there's something seriously wrong, the kids belong with the closest blood relative (especially since he wanted him back). The other relatives should have gracefully handed the boy over years ago, before they got so attached.

It kind of sounds like the wife more or less abducted him in the first place.

Yes, say goodbye to those media whores, papa can make a lot more with the US ones. "Hours after the handoff, father and son boarded a private jet chartered for an estimated $90,000 by NBC, which has wrapped up exclusive rights to the heart-wrenching story."

Also notice not one word about what line of business the father is in? Who wants to bet it is a cartel type job? Either with NBC or Colombian?

As far as I know, the only people who were against the dad was the boy's Brazilian family.

Had I been in this man's shoes I'd tell the boy's Brazilian family members that they were free to visit the boy, but only on U.S. soil and the boy is to never be with the Brazilian family members alone.

They robbed this father of four years of time with his son. Those are four years they can never have back. That is something that you can not put any amount of money on and the family should pay for not doing the right thing and giving the father his son.

So very much this. Not getting to watch your son grow up for four or five years is a hell I can hardly imagine. And knowing the people who abducted him were telling him you don't care about him or love him and not being able to do anything about it, well, it's amazing the man isn't in jail. Cause in his shoes I'd do my best not to leave any of them alive.

I hope they get in counseling soon.

And that the dad has something in place so the kid doesn't get reabducted by the Brazilian extended family.

And, YES, he was abducted in the first place by his mother. The dad may not be an angel, or a perfect father. But he is this kid's FATHER, both biologically and in reality (at least for the first 4 years of the kid's life). He deserves to have his child with him.

Yeah, I say fark that family. Stupid whore runs off to marry some lawyer and takes the kid with her. Her asshat new husband thinks he can keep the kid that isn't even his after she croaks. If I was this guy, none of them would ever see the kid again. Now that he is out of the country, he can tell the Brazzillions to eat a bowl of dicks.
