I will watch anything involving the Muppets.

I thought Muppets were Craig Ferguson's schtick.

TheShizzler: I thought Muppets were Craig Ferguson's schtick.

This was originally John Denver's shtick. Fallon's borrowing.

FTFA: Merry Christmas, comedy fans! Here's Jimmy Fallon...

I don't think that means what you think it means.

2009-12-24 10:32:05 PM
I'm a fan of the John Denver version, since I had the record as a youth but this rocks too. And I love how uncomfortable Jimmy looks singing.

John Denver & The Muppets is *still* my favorite Christmas album after 20+ years. I still haven't actually seen the original, my parents always played the soundtrack and that's been good enough for me.

I've been in a Bah Humbug mood all season, but after this I think I'll add some rum to my eggnog and give a goodwill countdown to Jesus' birthday party.

Holy crap the 'vodak' meme lives.

The Grassroots > The Roots

The muppets and John Denver were a perfect match. I have always wondered why they don't still show those specials. It's been a while but I imagine they are pretty timeless.

Superrad: And I love how uncomfortable Jimmy looks singing.

Maybe it's just his regular singing voice, because he does a mean Neil Young.

There was a vodak headline just today or yesterday

I thought I was the only one who had that John Denver/Muppets album as a kid.

Have that version of "12 Days of Xmas" on mp3, but I should go out and get the entire album. With some of the cheesy or just plain bad Xmas music I've already got that I don't listen to once a year, I may as well. For the novelty, if nothing else (half of my music collection is "for the novelty").

finally? i mean the song is just farking terrible

Agreed. And The Roots have been awesome since the first episode (and well before this, I'm reliably told). Fallon is actually the only late-night show I DVR anymore.

Oh, and Captain Kirk, The Roots' guitarist, is some sort of God.

Why were the Muppets all blocky and pixelated back then?

/Merry Christmas all you Farkers!

Why does Fallon always look so uncomfortable?

Of all the late-night shows to be the house band for, why Jimmy Fallon? The Roots are the best thing about the show

The saddest thing about all of this is that a whole bunch of young viewers (if there are any) are going to think Jimmy Fallon is so original for doing this...

This was pretty awesome. I can't recall if the Muppet's version of Bohemian Rhapsody was linked here, but I'll pass it along anyways.

Clicky pops.

That's pretty good...but the best Christmas related thing I've seen in quite a while was actually Jimmy Fallons informational christmas gift wrapping video

Hey Jimmy Fallon, hit yourself with the Talent stick a couple of times cuz you aint got none. You suck.

/anyone who likes Jimmy Fallon fails at life
//The Muppets, however, ROCK!

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't like the Muppets.

celery_stalker: Original (pops)

They're actually pretty close to each other, aside from the obvious of Fallon taking Denver's part. The biggest difference I noticed was that they swapped a few characters - they bumped Statler, Waldorf, and the Electric Mayhem for Sam the Eagle, Rizzo, and Pepe.

T.M.S.: The muppets and John Denver were a perfect match. I have always wondered why they don't still show those specials. It's been a while but I imagine they are pretty timeless.

That's a good question. I'm in my twenties, and I don't remember that special ever airing on TV. Judging from Amazon, it's also not available on DVD. My guess would be that they think the demand isn't there, or the rights to the special are lost in the quagmire that happened from the Muppets changing hands so many times.

All I know is that most of the Muppet material, especially their Christmas specials, ages well. I still watch Muppet Christmas Carol almost every year.

FAIL-LON

What an obvious and blatant RIP OFF of the John Denver version.

Are comedy writers so artistically bankrupt that regurgitating a Muppets CLASSIC is the only way to fill Fallon's Show? This is the same group of idiots who walked out because they wanted more money for their "artistic gift" of writing sitcoms and comedy shows. And they got the raise. This is the result?!

Salute the classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1szT-GOvug
