I heard him give an interview on NPR and I gotta say I'm not surprised in the least. I think one of his songs is even about committing suicide.

What does being GA have to do with it? Whatever his sexual preference is is fine with me.

I've been here too long to expect sadness or reverence, so carry on. That being said, he was an interesting as hell guy and a great songwriter. These lyrics seem awfully appropriate, too.
-----------------------------------------

Ventolin and Vivarin and primatene
secret tequila shots and a patch of morphine
in the morning and in the throes
what a great day to come out of a coma

I've been in the hot seat sweating it out
oh, sweating it out
sweating it out
sweating it out

I touch the telephone it falls away
I think they call it empathy
but not this way
I put my lips on the sound hole
my tongue is finally warming
but my brain is charcoal

I've been in the hot seat sweating it out
oh, sweating it out
sweating it out
sweating it out

not much later, fall out of favor
pretty soon I know I'll do
precisely what I wanted not to do

maybe I slipped up and learned a lesson
to work my proclivity towards second guessing
I was too naive and enthusiastic
to keep my trap shut
and my monkey in a motherfarkin' basket

I've been in the hot seat sweating it out
oh, sweating it out
sweating it out
sweating it out

That was the first time I'd ever heard of him, too. (I think it was Fresh Air?). He sounded confident, but there were a few things he said that suggested that he wasn't really stable. Brilliant guy, and a life wasted in so many ways.

Although I've never really heard of this guy, I feel Neutral because I don't really like his music from what I listened to in the interview; it was as bland as Milk. The type of thing you hear in an Hotel elevator. Really it never got my Circulatory System going.

Some decent music has come from Athens, GA though.
