Dude, half of the GOP wears diapers, what's the problem with that?

I'm kinda shocked they haven't pushed for mandatory Robot Insurance yet for anyone over 55.

Franken invited Corker to his office to discuss an op-ed that Corker penned in a Tennessee newspaper opposing an amendment Franken offered to a defense bill. The measure gave the employees of defense contractors who suffer rape or sexual assault at the workplace the right to sue in court.

The meeting quickly deteriorated when Franken began berating one of Corker's aides, according to GOP aides familiar with the incident.

I'm supposed to disappointed in him for this? He's tearing apart people who think we should do business with companies who condone rape. Good for him.

And frankly this deserves the Hero tag:

"There is a war within Al Franken," said Lawrence Jacobs, a professor of political science at the University of Minnesota. "The Al Franken head tells him to steer away from the limelight and build his reputation. Then there is his heart, which is quite fiery."

...

"We are entitled to our own opinions; we're not entitled to our own facts," Franken said, raising his voice.

Not to mention my personal favorite:

And he has wooed a significant number of Republican colleagues to cooperate on legislative initiatives.

For example, he introduced the Service Dogs for Veterans Act with Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.); a diabetes prevention amendment with Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.); a bill to assist the victims of sexual assault with Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah); and the Compassionate Care for Servicewomen Act with Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine).

Geez. What a dickhead.

Most people with a modicum of class consider powerful people berating mere aides to be somewhat less than heroic. Glad to know you're on the side of the powerful abusing the powerless when the powerful are people whose politics you agree with.

Politely informing your colleagues that the only way to keep Americans safe is to allow soldiers and intelligence operatives to torture people to death = Normal senate business.

Republican tells democrat to GFY on the senate floor = An atypical but delightfully candid moment from a politician.

Democrat tells republican to GFY = Dreadful breach of decorum and so uncivil it may paralyze the senate completely.

Of course Bob Corker is going to say terrible things about Al Franken in an editorial, it's how campaigning is done. Al Franken has no business calling bullshiat on him in private either. The correct response is to take it with a wry smile.

We weren't speaking of sexual assault. We were speaking of a Senator abusing an aide.

No. It isn't. Not unless you have some cognizable reason to believe that the aide Franken was berating wrote the op-ed. You don't do you? All you have is a knee that jerks.

We're going to divert into a semantic discussion as to whether "berate" and "abuse" are too dissimilar now?!?

I heard the aide mouthed off and called Franken a talentless comedian who stole the election and didn't know what he was talking about.

Actually, I didn't hear that, but it has as much credence as these unattributed one-sided behind-closed-door conversations. "Senator Franken was mean to me! WAHHHHHHHHH"

Franken appears to have always had them. I kinda like the guy and I'm a Republican. Or "Fark Independent" as they're called around here I guess.

The dude's honest and seriously out to try and help the people. I might differ with him on policy issues, or perhaps how he behaves, but I never have to 2nd guess his motives. He gives a shiat and I like that.

Plus he's spot on with this whole arbitration/sexual assault/rape thing.

Then please train them on the highlighted portions of the following two sentences:

"The meeting quickly deteriorated when Franken began berating one of Corker's aides, according to GOP aides familiar with the incident."

"Not unless you have some cognizable reason to believe that the aide Franken was berating wrote the op-ed."

Let's review: Corker writes an oped that makes Franken mad so they have a meeting to work it out. But the meeting goes awry because Franken goes off on an aide. The aide cannot defend himself and Franken knows it. That makes Franken a dick. And the subject of the op-ed is absolutely 100% irrelevant.

What is so farking hard to understand about that?!?

Ok, well here's one that isn't hearsay...and it is a dickhead move no matter your party:

An unsubtle brush-back pitch thrown today by the most recent late-night comic to be elected to the U.S. Senate. And an indication of how high emotions are running among Democrats over this endless healthcare debate.

In 2006, Democrats tried unsuccessfully to oust Sen. Joe Lieberman from his Connecticut seat over his support for the Iraq war. These days, they are even more unhappy with the Democratic vice presidential candidate from 2000.

That's because not only did Lieberman campaign for his Republican chum John McCain last year, but now-Independent Lieberman exercised his clout as the crucial 60th Democratic vote this month to kill some provisions of the healthcare bill that he didn't like.

Now his liberal pals don't like him even more and are mounting a campaign to get even.

Today, Lieberman was explaining some amendments that he intended to offer. At the end of Lieberman's allotted time, an unsmiling Democrat, Al Franken, who was presiding in the chair, interrupted to say that Lieberman's 10 minutes were up.

Lieberman made a routine motion that he be allowed a few additional moments to finish, usually a pro forma courtesy in the world's most exclusive club of talkers.

Franken made the un-routine move to object.

"Really?!" exclaimed a surprised Lieberman.

Franken has a sandy vagina because Joe Lieberman isn't on their side.

Name one of them that isn't a windbag that wants to talk as long as they want. The point is, it is a routine courtesy, and it shows what kind of character you have when you deny that routine courtesy.

Again, it doesn't really mean anything, and had no effect on anything. It just reflected back on him.
