I have to wonder why the conservatives are outraged that Ted Kennedy killed someone, but like to give Laura Bush a pass for killing someone.

OK, so people get into car accidents for running red lights. But that's not like getting drunk, driving into a river, and then leaving your passenger in the car for hours until she drowns.

One of these things is a reckless accident. The other is a huge WTF?

Why is it different? In both cases, irresponsible behavior led directly to the death of an innocent. No matter how hard you want to spin it, both have blood on their hands, but conservatives only seem to care about the blood on the hands of the liberal.

And both circumstances lead directly to the death of an innocent, but only one seems to attract the outrage.

Here's a bit of advice, Massachusetts. How about elect a Republican to something, just one. Your state legislature is 90% controlled by one party. If Saddam Hussein was alive, he'd laugh at you.

I see a difference. Drunk driving is, objectively, the worse crime. The decisions Kennedy made following the incident were quite possibly, the worst he could have made, and someone died as a result. He should have gone to jail.

Laura Bush's incident, while the circumstances weren't as dramatic, was a result of her blowing a clearly visible stop sign, hitting another clearly visible car, and killing the driver as a result. She should have gone to jail too. Her brakes didn't fail, the weather wasn't bad, and there weren't extenuating circumstances.

Kennedy's actions after were definitely worse than Bush's, I'm not going to argue that. The point is both of them killed someone in a car accident as a result of incredibly irresponsible behavior.

My question is why is the blood on Kennedy's hands somehow worse than the blood on Bush's.

Nemo's Brother: One criminally fled the scene, slept it off, had a big breakfast and then called his lawyer. Are you confused which one it was? I'll give you a couple of hints:

Both of them killed someone due to their irresponsible behavior. Don't give one person a pass because you agree with them politically. There are two people dead, but only one seems to matter to you.

2) They spent a career touting how 'green' they were, only to block the plans of windmills because he could almost make them out on 'his' shoreline.

Also, what the hell do these have to with the incidents? They are completely unrelated, and only serve to try and make Kennedy look somehow worse. Unless you are trying to say his cheating at Harvard, and his hypocrisy were mitigating factors in the accident.

I do, and I have explained myself. You don't seem to care at all about the person Laura Bush killed. The kid's life was ended violently, because Laura Bush blew a stop sign. She acted much more responsibly after she killed the guy than Kennedy did, but she still killed someone due to her irresponsible behavior. She had the choice to stop like she should have, but didn't and someone died as a result.

You try to downplay that little fact.

He should have gone to jail immediately. I'm not trying to excuse what he did.

YoMammaObama: accidentally running a stop sign while sober is no comparison to drunkenly leaving your girlfriend to drown in a river and never reporting it. Since you are incapable of seeing the difference, you should warn any of your future girlfriends or wives about your problem seeing the difference. They should know. Really.

I'll let them know when you let your loved ones know that if they die as a result of someone blowing a stop sign, you won't be too upset about it.
