Now, in the midst of the seal clubbing jokes I want to point something out to people who may not realize it.

In Canada it actually IS illegal to kill a baby seal.

So please alter your protests accordingly.

Although it is a little funny to walk up to people protesting clubbing the furry little white seals just to tell them that they're protesting in the wrong country since we're already not allowed to kill the cute ones.

We routinely have sea lions at Bonneville Dam (145 miles inland). They are apparently native to the area, that is, they were here before the dam. They eat lots of salmon and annoy hell out of fishermen.

Gulliver's way WAY more appropriate than freaking Rudolph.

1. Rudolph is a reindeer
2. Rudolph has a red nose.
3. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer typically shows up on the 24th, which is tomorrow- and Rudolph isn't stupid enough to show up on Monday the 21st.

Gulliver is awesome because:

it's a reference to Gulliver's travels, seeing as the seal traveled (ZING!) a great distance from his home. he ends up in a foreign land (these people's pond) and finds himself prisoner of the family dog (like the Liliputians, you see). There, he's forced to bear the horrible name of Rudolph, which is a metaphor for the ropes that tied Gulliver down.

You'll notice the Seal is much happier now.

Maybe he was looking for his bucket.
