Eh. I liked Ian McKellan as Magneto and they're going to be hard pressed to find someone half as good for a younger version.

Bryan Singer is still suspect after that whole Superman Returns thing.

If one of Xavier's students kills a bad guy with a piano, I am leaving the theater SO fast.

This is one of the (many) problems that plagued Hannibal Rising. No one could do Lecter as well as Hopkins, especially no one in the right age range.

if Magneto was being made instead of First Class, the headline would say that First Class would have been good.

I don't understand what's going on

Magneto is gonna go the way of Duke Nukem Forever.

I was thinking the same thing. People love to complain and whine.

If Emma Frost is in it and hot, then i'm all for it.

Agreed. Fanboys will always have something to whine about.

This is the first I'm hearing about "X-Men: First Class". Anyone know what it'll be about?

Let me guess. Wolverine?

I really don't want to see a Magneto movie (which will end up being like Hannibal, I suspect) and I really don't want to see a First Class movie either. I don't need to know anything more about Cyclops (what is to know? they made him a bore on purpose) or Jean or Beast. Since they messed with the timeline by having Iceman and Angel a generation removed, they can't really incorporate them w/o a reboot - is that the plan? Still don't want to see it. There are so many characters in the X-Men universe, why not just move forward? The stories they cobbled together in the first 3 movies are 20+ years old (anyone remember the original fate of the phoenix arc? congrats - you are officially old). Move on. And all respect to Singer for making the X-Men movies happen in the first place (something I never imagined growing up) but wouldn't it be nice to get a fresh perspective?

Ah screw all that. Let's see a filmmaker with some balls make a real comic book movie:

They did Wolverine earlier this year...

X-Men: First Class was a comic book that went back to the beginnings of the X-Men, back when there was just Cyclops, Iceman, Jean Grey, Beast and Angel. It was mostly one-shot issues, separate from the main continuity and with lots of cross-overs. It's a throwback to the older books, emphasizing fun stuff over myth arcs.

I actually thought Hannibal Rising was much better than, say, Red Dragon; which played like Anthony Hopkins doing an impersonation of someone doing a bad impression of Anthony Hopkins playing Hannibal Lecter.

Magneto probably would've been decent, but First Class doesn't really sound all that interesting all will probably suffer from the same bloat that X3 and Wolverine did.

I did not know that, thanks. Sounds intriguing, although I'm getting a little sick of origin stories. I guess it helps with spinoffs.

Oh boy! More work for Vancouver sci-fi channel actors!

Ishkur: Oh boy! More work for Vancouver sci-fi channel actors!

Ouch Ishkur. Ever notice how those sci-fi monster movies where killer bees/space monkeys/etc attack a small town, it's almost always the nice sheriff who's estranged from his scientist wife who solves the problem? Those movies SUCK. And I hate Space for airing leftover shiat from Sci-Fi (SyFy). "S.S. Doomtrooper" can also kiss my fat ass.

/hopes Michael Shanks or Tahmoh Paniket will be in it.

Wow ... we hate this already? Sheesh I miss one meeting...

If it's about Xavier and Magneto in their 20s... would any of the X-Men actually be born yet? If yes, would they even be teenagers? This seems ill-advised.

Also, ditto re: how farked the movie timeline is. Short of a reboot or retconning in more characters we just have Beast, Cyclops, Storm and a Jean Grey who can't levitate a Q-tip without getting a headache.

Lame.

They would be better off trying a New Mutants movie.

Cyclops was always an obnoxious overbearing bore. Thats always been his character. I didn't understand why people were so shocked by his character in the movies.

That was one of the most stupid and pointless movies that I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Truly horrible on every level.

It's been a while and I'm too lazy to look. Is/was Deadpool drawn by the same asshat who drew Cable? The pouches, lack of feet and hyper-exagerated musculature are pointing that way...

\why does he have a ten-pack?

Maybe a year ago...I'm actually of the opinion we have hit the limit on Deadpool. He's the new Wolverine - getting a bit tired of seeing him in everything.

Well, you have to f*ck the franchise up before you get to reboot it.
