Given those choices I would have picked Ralph Fiennes over all the rest. I certainly wouldn't have picked Val Kilmer to play Bruce Wayne/Batman.

So, there's that.

I can imagine him on set. Every time someone would call him by his real name:

I humbly submit that the Daniel Day-Lewis Batman voice would be the most wonderfully over-the-top thing to ever happen to filmdom.

Charles Bronson.

Ladies and gentlemen... I've traveled over half our state to be here tonight. I couldn't get away sooner because my new cave was coming in at Wayne Manor and I had to see about it. So, ladies and gentlemen... if I say I'm a bat man you will agree. You have a great chance here, but bear in mind, you can lose it all if you're not careful. Out of all men that beg for a chance to fight your crime, maybe one in twenty will be batmen; the rest will be speculators-that's men trying to get between you and the criminals-to get some of the criminals that ought by rights come to your jails. Even if you find one that has gadgets, and means to fight crime, he'll maybe know nothing about fighting crime and he'll have to hire out the job on contract, and then you're depending on a contractor that's trying to rush the job through so he can get another contract just as quick as he can. This is... the way that this works.

Torn between Seven Samurai and Ran, myself.

Raplh Fiennes as Batman? I could see it now...

Joker: Batman, let's face it. And I'm not being funny. I mean no disrespect, but you're a coont. You're a coont now, and you've always been a coont. And the only thing that's going to change is that you're going to be an even bigger coont. Just like your coont parents.
Batman: [furious] Leave my parents farking out of it! What have they done? You farking retract that bit about my coont farking parents!

In 1989, people freaked out that Micheal Keaton was going to be Batman. At the time he was a famous comedian, so people thought he couldn't be serious enough. And critics thought Tim Burton's involvement meant failure. That movie is the best Batman movie.

Yep, I now have two DVD copies of that one. The influences were obvious, particularly with the 3PO and R2 characters. George Lucas... you broke my heart you thief... you broke my heart!

Well isn't this thread just lovely!
Thanks, Farkers!

And now I will dream of a Kurosawa-directed Batman, probably a la Yojimbo, if only for a shot of a dog carrying off the hand of a villain. The Batman is the only honest man in town, I tells ya.

Batman: You're all tough, then?
Riddler: What? Kill me if you can!
Batman: It'll hurt.

Ralph Fiennes as Batman?

I am the Batman, and you call me insane. You are privy to a great becoming, but you recognize nothing. To me, you are a slug in the sun. You are an ant in the afterbirth. It is your nature to do one thing correctly. Before me, you rightly tremble - but fear is not what you owe me, Two-Face. You owe me awe.

Why yes, that would have been quite awesome.

2009-12-22 08:18:41 AM
Jim Carrey played a decent Joker in that movie, he almost beat Jack Nicholson.

Gah, can we just forget about that abomination of a film. God damn that brain draining set top box.

I contend that Bale was a perfect Bruce Wayne and a horrible Batman while Keaton was a perfect Batman and horrible Bruce Wayne.

For the context, Jack was perfect as the Joker while Ledger was a unique take on the same character and rightly so perfect when fit within the context of what audiences demanded.

Carry was screwed from the pooch by being in a shiat film despite the fact that he was utterly perfect as the Riddler.

We'll just quietly forget about everything else though.

He was better than Clooney, who I assume knew he was is a pile of crap and mailed in his performance.

I always thought Burton's second Batman was better than the first. Keaton seemed much more comfortable in the role, there was a tad more humor and they managed to pull off three good villians (Christopher Walken was the true main baddie)and while Batman Forever was a pretty big drop off from Batman Returns, it was miles and mile better than the gut wrenching bad Batman And Robin. But like the guy at Marvel said, Batman And Robin was an important comic book movie-it forced moviemakers to actually make good comic book movies, not just throw crap on the screen and assume people will go see it.

Your_Huckleberry: He was better than Clooney, who I assume knew he was is a pile of crap and mailed in his performance.

The sad part is that Clooney could be a perfect Batman, if he were in a decent film. He's got the look for Bruce Wayne, and the voice for Batman.

Still, my dream? Stacy Keach as Dark Knight Returns. He's probably too old to get into that kind of shape, though.

Shia Lebouf would be a great Batman as long as Nickleback did the soundtrack.

//Yeah, I just took you for a walk through hell. That's seriously what it's like down there.
