(El Paso Times)   Mexican army finds 3 tons of marijuana in truck. After confiscating the 2 tons of marijuana, local police need several vans to haul all 800 pounds of it; say the 50 pounds placed in evidence is worth almost 50,000 pizzas. I mean, dollars   (elpasotimes.com) divider line 100

I've been to Mexico dozens of times and the American dollar is preferred. I am pretty sure their army would welcome it.

Because of where the weed was going? in a tractor-trailer headed to the U.S. at the Zaragoza Bridge

-or-

The article was written by an El Paso newspaper.

Take your pick. Easier when you RTFA.

Marvelous headline.

2009-12-21 08:43:03 PM
50 pounds of Mexican brick weed is worth way less than $50,000.
50 pounds of good weed is worth considerably more.

I did RTFA.

The event happened in Mexico. The 'local police' were also in Mexico. The headline (which I quoted) is written from the POV of the Mexican police. TFH mentioned 'dollars'. Did you RTFH?

But that 25 lbs stored in the evidence locker won't protect itself

2009-12-21 08:55:12 PM
Note that this stuff was heading north.

But securing the border is wrong! Being against illegal immigration is racist! People can never be illegal. And they were here first! They are just reclaiming their stolen homelands!

That should be the basic Fark thread for the next 100+ posts.

And if you ask why did I bring all this stuff up? It's because it is all linked. The groups who smuggle in aliens are usually the same people who also smuggle in drugs. The issue is security.

Since it's clearly simply about racism and security, the farming lobbies should have no problem with border legislation...

And in recent historical news it's been reported that Santa Anna only brought 5000 mexican soldiers to the Alamo because he only had one truck.

I live in San Antonio and it's a given that at least once a week I will be in a traffic jam caused by an 60 year-old mexican, driving a 30 year-old truck, about 30 MPH....on a farking 65 MPH speed limit highway.

Anybody that lives anywhere in Texas knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Was the one before that the same headline? Seriously, every 3 weeks someone makes a headline that goes as follows:

1)Cops make bust
2)Cops steal money
3)By end of headline, barely any money left

Woo. Funny. Ha.

I live here, too. I guess you're ignoring the vapid yups weaving from lane to lane whilst talking to Muffy, their dog; on the other end of the phone, a bemused maid holds the phone to the yappy little furball's ear. You're missing the large number of retirees, too. Y'know, they're the ones that invented the "cruising" lane to the far left where anything over 45MPH (in a 70MPH zone) is "maniacal". Let's ignore the teen drivers that cause at least one wreck in front of our shop every day, and who in fact plowed into one of our customers as they were pulling in for laptop repair.

No, evidently the problem is those darn Mexicans again. I'll give you credit for a sharp eye, though; even after 20 years of living here, I can't tell a difference in nationality just by sight.... but hey, if you can judge a wise man by the color of his skin, then mister, you're a better man than I.
