They should pay her the $100,000 because nobody is going to have one ounce of sympathy for them in a courtroom. Their lawyers are going to be more than that.

She should sue for a million. Wedding and baby pictures? Mommas on the jury are going to give her whatever she wants.

and to allow her to go to the homes of the people who made this "mistake" and make sure all their shiat gets thrown onto their yard and set ablaze so she can roast marshmallows. What in the hell were those people thinking? I guess they have become so complacent in cleaning out foreclosed homes that they don't give a shiat...

That's exactly what's going to happen. The list of civil claims she can assert is a mile long. She should be seeking at least a half-mil, if for no other reason than to levy a big fark you to the company that royally screwed this up and offered her $5,000 to cover it.

And as has been said, no jury in the universe is going to feel an ounce of sympathy for the defendants.

And they said, 'Ok, that is too much.' She called me that day and told me they were only willing to give me $5,000," she said.

Wow. Just, wow.

There's so few opportunities to truly use the word rue in a sentence, but this is a rare chance.

They will rue that decision. That decision, they will rue it.

How is this not criminal? They broke into her house and stole her shiat.

In addition to the civil suit, i'd file criminal charges of theft and criminal tresspass. Someone SHOULD be in jail over this.

I would think that she could call the police and get both the Mortgage company and the cleaning company hit with charges of felony theft. That would probably make them a little less reluctant to lowball her.

No, wait, that would lose a bunch of other people their jobs. And that's not cool.

She has not apparantly, hired an attorney, she has not changed the locks. It just sounds fishy. She sounds more whiny and lost than mad, and mad would be the natural reaction, not this where's my stuff? garbage. I sense a scam is being pulled. My spider senses are tingling.

MorningBreath: She has not apparantly, hired an attorney

Everyone knows that non-retion of legal counsel less than 24 hours after an incident is an automatic admission of guilt.

MorningBreath: She sounds more whiny and lost than mad, and mad would be the natural reaction, not this where's my stuff? garbage.

She's not complaining about the TV or Playstation 3 she lost, she's complaining about the photos, mementos and other odds and ends that can never be replaced. To ask "where's my stuff" and be prepared to sift through garbage to find them as she did:

I kept asking them, 'Where did you take my things because I was ready to go and dumpster dive,' and they had no answer for me."

Is absolutely reasonable. Curious, what qualifies you to know what the 'natural reaction' to this situation would be anyway?

MorningBreath: My spider senses are tingling.

Yea well my moran alert is having a five-alarm panic right about now.

I'm leaning in this direction too. Her locks were changed weeks ago and she didn't change them back? She just left the real estate company's locks on her door? And they're still on the door? It seems like she hasn't done anything to fix the problem except demand money from the real estate company. You'd think she'd already have lawyers all over this.

If I'm wrong I hope a good attorney sees this story and calls her and rapes those responsible for this but I can't help but think there's more to this story than what is being said.

She's kinda MILFY too.

You empty out my house, I empty your bank account. That's the Las Vegas way

Any attorney worth their salt would be drooling over this case. Hell, she may get enough to pay off her mortgage and furnish the place.

That's one trial I'd love to DVR - just to laugh at whatever pathetic defense Brenkus attempts during trial.

Assuming that the people above who are smelling some sort of "scam" are not right.... I can't believe the companies involved want to go to court. As someone said... wedding dresses and family photos are going to make for a quick and large jury judgement.

As far as not "changing the locks right away"..... I wouldn't put out for that either immediately either. WTF are they going to steal, the place is empty!

She still has "legal" rights to the apartment, and it is empty. Heck, leave the door wide open for all you care (other than people who would want to have a crazy party there and trash the place).

I have some friends who are very "drama-driven," and I can totally see them failing to do anything logical in this situation, just to keep the drama going. That's what I smell here. And a healthy dose of professional victim.

Yea, any jury is going to give her whatever the hell she wants.

St_Francis_P: They were idiots not to give the $100k. It will suck to be them.

Maybe not. If they voluntarily settle, it's probably out of their pocket. If they force a court case, it becomes their insurance co's problem. If the case goes against them, they can go bankrupt & walk away... after having 5 years of various court-approved delays to prepare financially.

Remember: it's a legal system, not a justice system. Lawyers get rich by knowing the difference.

That also made me go "WTF?" My first thought was that maybe she didn't want to mess with the house to avoid any further legal complications. But if she thinks it's okay to go back to live in the house, yet she won't change the locks back in spite of feeling insecure, that's weird.

The locks were re-keyed weeks before the apartment was cleaned out.

not really.

Channel 8 said this a.m. they tried to get comment from Brenkus team... the realitor that had the incorrect address and said they "fixed it, sorry" right before her condo was emptied....

the Brenkus Team declined to comment per their lawyer. Sounds like they f'd up & know it.

The place would turn into a vagrant community inside of a day. I regularly see them scouting foreclosed homes for a place to shack up.

I've also seen the mess they leave behind. It's not pretty.
