I think we're honestly really reaching back through the ages for "new" trends -

let's see, last year it was paperboy caps from the 1930s.
now monocles from even earlier..
what next, pantilooms?

Hey, J is the awesome one. He's been pimping my buddy's resume on his site. If anyone needs a History Professor with a bouncing background. I will vouch that he's the real deal when it comes to tossing people out on their touchis AND he is top knotch in Scottish/English history.

i would drop my monocle in astonishment but alas i have no monocle.

/potential customer?

Hey America: Here's what you do when you run into someone sporting a monocle. You punch them square in the eye that's sporting the monocle and see how many shards of glass penetrate that stupid 'wanna be ironic' asshole hipster face.

Then you count the blood drops on his shoes and keep score.

A greenlit article about Monocles being back is back and no one knows why: "We have had dozens of requests so we thought we'd greenlight another article about monocles being back in style on a trial basis," says Drew. "We're as puzzled as anyone by the interest"

You sound angry about the monocle. Monocole envy???

this is a generation that puts rivets in their faces
and covers every square inch of their skin with fake prison tats
and people are suprised by monocles....

Trik: this is a generation that puts rivets in their faces
and covers every square inch of their skin with fake prison tats
and people are suprised by monocles....

American Apparel has basically brought back the 15th century Spaniard look (tights and a long shirt).

Ridiculousness is so commonplace that ordinary trousers will be rebellious in a few years.

2009-12-21 02:46:24 AM
Monocles are douchey. Like a guy under 50 smoking a (tobacco) pipe. That kinda douchey. At any age.

I think this "late-19th century fashion" hipster fad, with their bowler hats and (now) monocles, is born from a brilliant grass-roots marketing campaign to promote the new Sherlock Holmes movie franchise.

First the whole Where the Wild Things Are hoodies, and now this. Somewhere a marketing team is laughing at the "too cool for school" kids.
