Random Upton Sinclair factoid that I just read today- Sinclair belonged to a socialist society founded by himself, Jack London, and Clarence Darrow.

Wow, what I wouldn't give to have attended one of their meetings.

This is just another example of big government socialists trying to control how hard-working small businessmen run their businesses. They need to let the invisible hand of the free market sort things out. If you don't want fly infested horse-meat you don't have to buy it, if you do then it's your right as an American to do so. We don't need the FDA to control what we put into our bodies.

From teh fa:"These illegal slaughter farms have been running for north of 20 to 30 years without anyone doing anything about it,'' said Couto ..."

Maybe 'cause it hasn't been a problem until some whiny-ass non-Hispanic white folk decided to change generations of culture in the name of increased taxes and regulation. The powers-that-be don't give a shiat about the sanitation, they only want the power and taxes.

Regarding the horse situation, don't forget it's the feds who caused this problem by outlawing horse slaughter in the US, driving down the price of horses across the entire country and leading to the abandonment of thousands of horses. Meanwhile, the a-holes PAY billions to maintain herds of wild horses and PAY people to adopt the damn things.

If this is not indicative of how inept our gov't is, then I'm a donkey's uncle.

Well when the USDA cracks down on Disgusting Puppy Mills that keep animals in filth and cages to breed them and make money , Ill believe that they are actually going to do something about this. And yes they are the regulators that watch for nasty organizations... They call a week before hand so they can clean up.

they will not even shut down the Mill auctions that sell dogs with broken bones and mites and diseases.

Most violate an array of business, code, health and environmental regulations. At least a few are suspected as the source of Miami's black market in horse flesh, a thriving illicit trade exposed by a string of grisly horse killings this year.

Can't help but notice how having cut up, frozen pork in your freezer is the same as raising pigs.. even though the person didn't have any live ones.. on the property.

Even though it is disgusting and could make people sick, or worse, when they go to the level of having something in a freezer is the same as raising a live one... well, they still wonder why people are against any Gov involvement.

/Just think, if you have a pack of hot dogs in your fridge, you're actually raising pigs, chickens, cows and prolly a few head of Mr. Ed on your property! And, if you live in an Apt. you now know why your neighbors hate you so much.

Um, I'm pretty sure that's outside the USDA's range. The USDA tracks livestock and meat, and I don't think dogs count under livestock. I mean, I could be wrong. Are you planning on eating these dogs? I wouldn't, if they came from a puppy mill. Anyway, most puppy mills these days are shut down by private organizations, or affiliates of the ASPCA.

The problem is that in many parts of the country that wouldn't be construed as a troll as much as just plain common sense.

The fact that a troll attempting to sound like a rabid conservative actually sounds more liberal and reasonable than the actual conservatives is somehow simultaneously sad and amusing.
