The headline is funny.

But not as funny as the wing-nut segment that will start flinging spittle because they still believe this is how the seecrit mooslim got elected.

When my grandmother was getting ready to sell her house in Chicago, the inspector said she had to renovate the bathroom in the basement to meet code. She paid for the renovations.

My mom later heard about the cost of renovations, and told my kind and forgiving grandma that she should have just paid off the inspector. That didn't go over so well, though practically, the payoff would have been easier and cheaper.

/not a terribly cool story, bro

Eminent domain is abused so badly nowadays. Funny thing Chicago has been registering the dead since prohibition. When women got suffrage they voted to ban booze, rum runners would register corpses to vote against prohibition. Now we have a senator who bought his seat because in 80 years nothing much as changed except the issues the dead vote for. The more you know.

I wonder how the DEMOCRATS would actually do if they didn`t CHEAT all the time with everything? Especially with the "voting" deal. Oh damn,,,,, I forgot,,,, that`s probably Bush`s fault too.

How stupid do you have to be to believe that Chicago is not one of the most politically corrupt ciies on the planet?

That's what I thought. I had to go look up what religion JFK was to be sure.

Rum runners would have voted in FAVOR of prohibition. Without prohibition, they were out of work. Just like today's drug cartels are in favor of prohibition now. Without it, they are out of work.

That and DingleberryMoose pouted out the other flaw in your statement.

As a life long resident of Chicagoland and as someone who lives near the site in question, I'm really getting a kick....

Anyway, the O'Hare expansion was yet another Daley trick. I remember how construction started on the runways despite the lack of federal funding approval. It was Daley's way of saying, "Hey we started, so you have to give us money now biatches." And the fued with Bensensville (where many were displaced and looks like a great site for a World Without Us episode) just ended a month or so ago.

How the residents (the living ones) continue to vote these crooks in is baffling.

Not every time. But he usually does. However, he's right about O'hare, it needs to be expanded.

While I don't see the point of a cemetery as a shrine, since the plots take up too much room then if there was just a place for bodies to decompose separate of the shrines, I do think eminent domain is pure bullshiat when it's used for private industry expansion.

2009-12-19 09:25:11 AM
Did Daley budget for the cost of changing all those addresses on the voting records?

You aren't bright, are you?

Relying on outworn "progressive" memes for thinking content is no way to go through life, son.

Having a brother-in-law from Chicago, who used to be a ward boss until he moved "for his health" (if you know what I mean), I can tell you with certainty that the only thing wrong with subby's headline is the inclusion of the word 'potential.' Most of those bodies are registered at least twice.

2009-12-19 09:55:19 AM
Subby fails, as the cemetery is not in Chicago.

Plus, why do people rip in Daley over Northerly Island? He got rid of a little used minor airport and now it's a very nice park. Everyone wins.

The Illinois Municipal Voting Act of 1913 gave women the right to vote for nearly everything except state reps, Congressmen, and governor.

It's just a perfect example of the way Daley operates.

Daley: I'm closing Migs and building a park

State legislature: You need our approval to do that and you don't have it.

Daley: Hey, did you see that the Migs airfield just got all torn up? It's not good for anything now. Let's build a park!

Except for the people who were, you know, kind of... USING that airport? I don't live in Chicago, but I imagine he probably wrecked more than just a few runways. He displaced charter operations, disrupted businesses that relied on the airport, closed flight schools and all the various other small businesses that grow up around small regional airports, losing all those jobs, just for... for a park?

That's my (ex)church. I used to help weed and maintain at that cemetary.
It's currently defunct and bankrupt.
And racist. I left when a mixed racial couple were told they "wouldn't feel welcome"
They were not happy when I called them on their hypocrisy.
The attitude had more to do with old germans than anything religious, the reverend was a great guy, but the council was old german men and women.

Except Miggs wasn't one of those kind of airports. It was used for all the rich CEOs to fly in and be basically right in the middle of downtown to get to business meetings faster.

You can also always fly into O'Hare or Midway. You know what? It's best to act as if O'Hare doesn't exist because getting there is a mess. So just fly in and out of Midway.

Sure there may have been a flight school there, but they can easily go out to Joliet or one of the other small regional airports that aren't terribly far from the city.
