I can't think that they'd be able to trick people with a placebo unless they were high school kids or something. If I'm drunk enough to have a hangover, I damn well know I'm drunk.

Wanna avoid a hangover? Drink plenty of water. Have B-complex (brewers yeast). Also have 1 (not 2) aspirin before bed.

If you cant do that... eat. Food. Real food. Not rice, anything but rice.

Vodka gives me heartburn, so I switched.

You want a real hangover? As in the kind you will never forget having until the day you die, and when you have it you will wish that were the day? Mix equal parts of iced-in-the-freezer ouzo and cold dry vermouth.

/This is done by professional drinkers on a closed course, do not attempt.

Here's a little PSA for you kids out there...don't mix vodka and orange soda. I did that about 22 years ago and I haven't touched vodka since.

You know, if you don't want a hangover, you could just not drink so much.

What about a lager hangover?

Or a cider hangover?

Or the songs we sing about the better times?

These studies are compeltely bullshti because people don't drink bourbon the way they drink vodka.

If you drink whiskey you probably don't mix it with much. if you drink vodka, you are likely mixing it with a ton of sugary shiat which will give you a huge hangover.

Back in college I randomly mixed orange soda and Bacardi's silver rum. It tasted like an Orange Julius, almost no matter how much rum you put in. It was immensely popular, especially with the women, but a bit too sugary for me.

Must be differences in people.. whiskey does not give me hangovers.. ever. Even when go waaaay overboard Beer has, vodka, Jagger, never had enough wine to be able to reach a point to tell lol...
Might be why I stick with Crown, Segrams, Beam and Crow 90% of the time.

That was a good game, just the Hawks defense was not up to speed (goalie). Luckily, they pulled it out in a shootout though. I had my doubts about Hossa coming off of an injury, thinking it was an expensive move for naught, but he is on top of his game. I'd like to see more out of Kane though.

Back on topic. I learned this when I got arrested for public intoxication while in college at a football game. For some reason I thought it would be smart to run by a State Trooper and swipe his hat. That wasn't very smart. The university made me attend an alcohol education class which started at some ungodly hour like 6:00 a.m. Yeah, I showed up hungover. But they did teach me that the clear liquors do not give nearly as bad of a hangover, so I got some useful information out of it.

As a drinker of the entire gamut of alcoholic spirits, wines, beers, hooch, some shiat my brother-in-law brewed in a Mtn Dew bottle (true story), I have to say that my recollected whiskey hangovers were pretty mild compared to the vodka hangovers.

In full disclosure, I buy quality whiskey and the low/mid vodka (you know... Smirnoff), so my opinion may be all helter skelter.

Here's to all you "recovered alcoholics." Like Dennis Leary said, "It still tastes just as good as it always did."

I drink whiskey for the taste. I can't handle vodka straight. Mixing drinks just gets in the way of the alcohol and gives me more stuff to shiat out the next morning. Though I drink less/night than I used to, I am hungover more.

You know, I had my first shot of Johnny Blue this week, and I gotta say, it's pretty damn good even if it's a blend.

Having said that, I still favor the Johnny Green Single Malt Blend (trying to ease my Vodak loving butt to Single Malts).

\Whiskey Noob, but Single Malt >> Normal Scotch Whiskey

I disagree completely. It depends very much on the person. I handle Whiskey better than any other type of alcohol, and if all I drink is whiskey, I very rarely get a hangover. Vodka gives me hangovers every time. One of my friends get terrible hangovers from Gin, but can drink Tequila like it's water and feel fine the next day.

Niemi is a farking stud goalie. He just needs some more experience before he wholly replaces Huet. Note that I have always felt Huet was a fine, fine goalie who deserves to be a starter. Niemi, however, is the future. And the future looks really, really nice.

It definitely depends on the person. I don't get them...except with tap beer. I am guessing the impurities. My ancestors must have doused my genes with enough booze that I am immune to most hangovers.

Aww, I like Gin. I love the smell of Juniper. It's a little harder for me to drink than whiskey, but a good Gin is acceptable IMO.

Gold is better than Blue, Green is hard to find. Jameson FTW. However 10high works every time.

Don't get me wrong. I was not badmouthing him. He just needs more ice time. At the beginning of the season I was calling for him to start more because I was impressed with him and disappointed with Huet as he could not seem to stop anything that was shot up. And I like Huet as well. Even after that disastrous playoff game when he was put in and failed hard I was defending him, saying that a lot of NHL teams would like to have him as their starting goalie. Whatever. The Blackhawks have two good goalies.

Once I got a cheap bottle of vodka and using laboratory glassware distilled off the alcohol. What remained was milky crap that had been invisible when dispersed in the alcohol. If they were looking for known cogeners that were quantifiable why not just measure the amounts? What Vodak? Was it triple distilled or basement brand? Same for the bourbon. This study seems pretty flawed. The old wive's tale of brown liquor being worse doesn't hold true from my experience. Besides, bourbon is much better than vodka in coffee which is the best hang-over cure anyway.

2009-12-19 04:00:25 AM
I don't get hangovers generally. Except this one time where I started feeling like death in the middle of the day because I was so dehydrated. Being drunk when I wake up the next day isn't new though. If anyone knows a way to prevent that I'm all ears.

Maybe I'm drinking the wrong stuff.

/I do love rum and vodka though

Go NJ! Not really. That is just the last team I rooted for about 10 years ago. It is hard to find a team to root for as a Wisconsinite. It can't be Chicago. I end up rooting for the team with the most Badgers (except lately it has been the DeadWings and I can't root for them).

/NHL, move one of those southern teams to Milwaukee please.
