(Dallas News)   Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware officially listed as questionable and a game time decision for their game against the Saints tomorrow. Let's be real, at this point Wade Phillips would start Chris Henry if he thought it'd save his job   (cowboysblog.dallasnews.com) divider line 74

That collision was brutal. That Ware came out of it with nothing more than a sprained neck is mind-blowing. His neck compressed like an accordion.

2009-12-18 07:17:47 PM
The Cowboys would be better off giving Ware this game off because they have no chance against the Saints.

Why all the doom and gloom? All the Cowboys need to do is win 1 lousy game out of 3 and they are in the playoffs. Even with a blind monkey at the controls, they are bound to fall into a 33% win percentage.

Not necessarily. Giants should be able to beat, at the least, Washington and Carolina. Which would have them tie with the Cowboys, and they New York would win on tie-breakers. Even with two wins, there's a chance NY could win against Minnesota if they rest starters. Despite the fact they clearly have not earned it this season, I really do believe the Giants will make it to the playoffs.

Wasn't all that funny the first five times I've seen it in football threads since Henry carked it.

I don't know, dude, I remember my first year as a Saints fan. Same situation, win one and you're in, only this was official, that's what it WAS. Went 0 for 3 and out of the playoffs. Quite the magical entry to the fanbase, really.

Nothing short of a Super Bowl win should save Wade's job. Even then, I'm still not sure it should. But Jerry is just enough of a egomaniac that I'm sure he's got it all figured out just like he did when he let Jimmy walk.

Two weeks ago the Saints were lucky to beat the Redskins, last week their game was close against a Falcons team without Ryan and Turner. Cowboys have a better shot than a lot of people are giving them credit for.

The Dome. It swallows opposing teams whole. The Saints have stepped up all year in these situations. A couple of close games before the Giants, and the Saints clobbered them. Played a bit down before Atlanta, actually went down early to Atlanta, then clobbered them. Had two a couple of dud games, then clobbered the Patriots. Line is Saints plus nine points. Take the points.

Is Jason Garrett still calling plays? If yes, then no they don't. What in the world was that debacle calling 3 runs to the right in a row against the Chargers? And did anyone honestly think Barber was in as a fullback to block on the 4th down play other than the guy that calls 2 fades in a row to the end zone, the 2nd to a drop happy 2nd string tight end.

I don't buy "The Dome" thing. To me it sounds like something more or less invented by ESPN.

I'm sure it's loud in there, but I can't imagine it'll be significantly louder than any other big game.

Have you ever been there? It gets really, really loud. One national writer commented on the Steve Czaban show that some writers were wearing earplugs in the press box at the Patriots game. I've been in some loud stadiums, but when the Dome gets going, it is a tough place for opponents to be.

The Cowboys are 30-16 with Garrett calling plays the last 3 years. Granted even I think he's been horrendous this season, that doesn't mean the Cowboys automatically can't win a game with Garrett calling plays.

Can we just say that it is the Cowboys in December then? On the road, against a great team?

I'm probably one of the few people I know that still think Garrett will be a good OC one day. I just don't think it's going to happen with Wade. I'd like to see how he'd do with someone like Shanahan helping him for a year or two. I just don't see the imaginative schemes and play calling. Of course, I'm also one of the few people that think that Choice should be the main back. Put Barber back in his role as 3rd down back and the guy that comes in late in 1st half and at the end of the game that runs people over and use Jones as your big play, home run hitter back.

If the niners win out, the cowboys will need to win 10 games, as the niners would take them on the conference record tiebreaker.

The Niners will beat the rams and lions for sure, though they play the Eagles in Philly on Sunday, and a blizzard is expected. So...we'll see.

He is a game-time decision. It's not Wade's decision. It's not Jerry's decision. It's the team doctor's decision. DeMarcus will play if he gets even a shred of approval because he wants to play. Two weeks ago they were on the frozen tundra of Washington. Last week they were in a game with bitter rival Atlanta in the Georgia dome. This week is homecoming week in the Superdome against the team that Louisianans hate more than any other team with an undefeated season on the line. The crowd in the Dome versus New England hit 119 decibels. 120 decibels is a jackhammer at 3 feet. They will pass 120 decibels when the Saints are on defense against Dallas and hush right down when Brees is on offense. Romo wont be able to think much less call audibles. You have no idea whatsoever what the environment is that the Cowboys are entering tomorrow.

Cmon, Di. As a Raiders fan, and you as a Cowboys fan, should know that part of the territory in being a fan of either team, comes with irrational hatred and headlines on Fark.

Raiders have gotten more of a break later this year since they've pulled out some wins that no one in a million years thought they'd pull off.

The Cowboys couldn't run the ball in on 4 tries mere yards away from the endzone against the 21st ranked run D in the league. Add in what mikaloyd said and yea....they're toast...

If the Saints wind up 35-0 by halftime, i would not be a bit surprised.

Cowboys are going to get absolutely wrecked tonight, guaranteed. And it'll be the final dagger in the Cowboys' morale.

While I get your point entirely, it irks me that the Saints are just lucky to be undefeated while the Colts have had to come back 7 times in the fourth quarter and somehow aren't lucky at all. Bullshiat. Saints over Colts Peyton Mannings in the first matchup of undefeated teams in the Super Bowl.

/not a big NFL fan, unfortunately ESPN covers it 98% of the time so I am very aware of everything going on.

Getting a kick bc I work on the field for saints games. It's loud. I went to texans / titans Monday night game this year and was stunned at how quiet it was. It really made me appreciate the volume in the dome.

The biggest threat to the noise level is that people started tailgating yesterday and may not be 100% if they are too loaded and have been hollering at each other all day.

As a non-Cowboys fan (but also not a Cowboys hater) living in Cowboys country, I could not agree with you more.

In late July, I went to a Cowboys training camp session out of curiosity, and because I told Di I'd get her some pictures. Mainly, it was an excuse to drink a beer and watch some football action. The good and bad things I saw that day have been the story of the Cowboys season. Romo and Williams had timing issues, Miles Austin looked like a stud, and Choice showed better vision than either Barber or Jones.

That, to me, is the biggest reason why Coach Yuk-Yuk (Wade) should get canned. If a random Titans fan sitting in the stands of the Alamodome can see the problems with your team, an NFL head coach should not only see the problems, but also know how to correct them.

More than will DeMarcus Ware play, more than how the Saints will do against the Dallas secondary, more than how the Dallas rush will do against the Saints run D if Ellis doesn't play...truly that is the question of the day. What mojo is stronger - that, or the December blues for Romo and the gang?

uofacats2004: what is your point? its the cowboys playing against an undefeated 13-0 team in december. on the road. end of story.

My POINT had nothing to do with whether the Cowboys would win the game or not. My POINT, and the focus of my entire post, was in regards to the status of DeMarcus Ware. So what is YOUR point?

2009-12-19 12:38:16 PM
As a Saints fan, I have to say that this game seems pretty dangerous to me.

An 8-5 team, still smarting from last week's humiliation, a coach's job on the line, and a Saints secondary that is still pretty hurt. Plus, Saints have had trouble stopping the run lately. It was fairly depressing to see how easily the Falcons moved the ball last week.

But to be fair, this feeling might just be the results of 30 years of reliable disappointment.
