When did Fark get into the "Top 11" lists? Is this a new thing?

At least it's not a slide show.

2009-12-21 10:14:58 AM
Fark writing its own stories now? This could be interesting.

2009-12-21 10:16:06 AM
Sorry. List fails without "Daddy ate my eyeballs."

FARK_JOSH: Sorry. List fails without "Daddy ate my eyeballs."

It was truly weird, but I just couldn't bring myself to add something so tragic to a list that was meant to be lighthearted. That story still makes my skin crawl and leaves me depressed.

Anybody else getting a random picture at the bottom of the list? Some guy and a cute chick on what looks like a train. She looks a little like Kate Mara.

Nice try. You need to try harder to make it to the top 12 trolls of the year!

Thanks for not picking that story as one of the weirdest. One of the saddest, yes, but not weird at all.

No I think we missed something with the placenta bear story. The link in it's comments points to the original news story, which in turn links to a related news story. A mother ate her baby's placenta which I considered equally gross... Until I saw the pic of the cold placenta sandwich.

just to let you know, I didn't eat the placenta, but I did ask it to be saved (frozen in an icecream container) and I eventually planted a tree over it.

However, i did manage to freak a friend out when he came to see the baby - I told him I had the placenta stewing on the stove. Poor guy almost threw up on the spot!

(hey, David, I was just joking!)

Seems like an attempt to get clicks via mainstream media picking this up. You know, the kinda thing we make fun of here.

I once read a book by a guy who skewered the main stream media. I think it included a chapter about how annual "Top # Lists" are lazy and meant only to drive viewership/readership/attention; or something like that.

I saw Drew on a televised radio show over the weekend. He had his top 11 list and explained it was because almost always one of the censors will deny one of the stories so he always brings an extra.

Mitochondrial Eve: just to let you know, I didn't eat the placenta, but I did ask it to be saved (frozen in an icecream container) and I eventually planted a tree over it.

We had kind of a similar situation here. We were snowbound in an usually bad storm when my wife went into labor. I called the doc and said I couldn't get her out to the hospital. The doctor said, "You've been around livestock having babies, right?" I'm from the country, of course the answer was yes. Doc says, "Just act like she's a cow or a goat or a sheep having a baby. You'll do fine." Our son was born that night. The next day, the storm had lifted and I drove her and the child into town to the hospital to have them checked out. The doctor asked how everything went. "Pretty well, but I had a hell of a time forcing her to eat the placenta."

/like it snows out here

I threw up a little bit in my mouth, however I found that less revolting than having a placenta eating party.

There are sometimes that I feel so violated after reading links posted on Fark, and this is one of those times.

The kid's gonna regain partial sight in one eye.
He's gonna be OK.

I just about cried when I saw the headline.

Sorry, the placenta eating has nothing on "Daddy ate my Eyeballs". I can't believe people in that thread tried to top that.

/The above link to the Eyeball thread mistakenly lists details of a different crazy in texas. That father killed his 5 year old (and 11 year old and mother) and then ate his own eye.

I liked the one about the Canadian grand high office-we-don't-have-in-America ripping out the seal's heart and eating it.
