Conversely, the internet is an extremely viable medium for conversation and social interaction for those who actually are "Aspies," so the numbers would be skewed a bit.

At the same time, people self-diagnose and take away from people with real disorders. I get really pissed off when I tell someone I have OCD, and their response is "I have a little bit too". Sure, we all have farking habits, but I'm sure yours didn't cause you to wash your hand so much they were bleeding constantly.

I was asked by the doc what I did for a living when we were trying to get my youngest diagnosed. When I answered that I worked with computers (HMIs) and worked with schematics all the time she looked at me and said, "uh oh."
I asked, "why the 'uh oh'?"
"Because most children with autism or Asperger's work in technical fields."

Tell me that isn't a generalization or what.

I can't help thinking that getting an Asperger's diagnosis will be viewed by people a century from now as (mostly) quackery; much like how we view Phrenology today...
