If the girls in that school don't have to wear short hair the parents should sue for sex discrimination.

My kid's hair is almost that long and he's also four.

But he's a redhead, so it's alright.

From the comments:

That four year old has the hairstyle of a 50 year old woman.

As a 50-something year old woman, I resent this comment. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing my hair in that style!

Seriously. If you're going to let your kid have long hair, at least don't give him a style that should have died out by the end of the 70's.

/Every boy I dated in high school had hair exactly like that.

My hair is longer than that, and the only time I had to cut it for a job was when I worked in a factory during summer break when I was 19. They said it could get caught in one of the machines and kill me.

It never had that sort of Osmondesque magnificence though.

Spelling isn't critical in business.

There is plenty of time later to break the kid's spirit, leave him alone now.

I had long hair as a kid. It came down in wavy locks. Then I joined the military and got it buzzed. Now, if I ever try to grow it out, ONE SIDE of my head will grow in luxurious locks...the other side poofs out and I end up looking like a half-assed Krusty the Clown. :-/

Uncle Buck said it best

"I don't think I want to know a six-year-old who isn't a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don't want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don't have a college degree. I don't even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they're ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they're no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I'm coming looking for you!"

It was stupid of the District officials to give an excuse. They should have simply stated that there is a rule in place and the kid was violating the rule.

The rule may be stupid but the parent should fight it in a way that doesn't restrict her kid - go find other parents that disagree with the rule and the petition the school board. At least there's a system in place where they can directly inform the rule makers and enforcers that their rule is idiotic. And they can do it without fear of retribution. Try doing that on the job where you may be subject to ridiculous rules and policies that have absolutely no other reason for existing other than to feed someone's ego.

Well, at least you have a ready made Halloween costume. Just grow it out a bit beforehand, and say you're Krusty on a bender.

I thank god my Pre-K had a strict dress code. It laid foundations for me that enabled me to know how to dress professionally, and act respectful.

...No, wait, I didn't go to Pre-K. I must've dreamt that. Well in kindergarten we learned how to color inside the lines. That was helpful later in life, let me tell you!

This is near the Dallas area.

Full of retards and fat chicks with big hair.

The kid isn't missing out on anything by not being in the classroom up there. It's just a shame he has to go home and be subjected to parents who would give their kid that haircut.

Poor guy is farked right out of the gate.

I'm sure he'll grow nicely into his lowered S-10 with tint and a big star decal in the back window.
