"The last thing those students need is a medical-marijuana dispensary within a mile of them, let alone 500 feet," Robbins said.

Wait...does it ooze through the walls, or what?

If marijuana is ever legalized you just know Monsanto will be making roundup ready weed.

And if that one pot shop bothers him so much, I hope he never comes to California, or his head would assplode. In my city, for example, we have more "medical" marijuana "dispensaries" than Starbuck's stores--no exaggeration. (At least since Obama took office and vowed not to fark with states' decisions to allow medical marijuana--in the Bush years, the "states rights" Bushies were constantly sending the jackbooted Fed thugs in to raid them, but since Obama took office they've sprouted up like mushrooms after a rainstorm.) And those Amsterdam-style pot shops seem to cause no problems whatsoever and nobody here seems to be too concerned about them.

Thank god there are no liquor stores, stores that sell tobacco or ghey people within a mile.

2009-12-16 01:31:11 PM
The panic here in the media is just incredible.

Media: "The dispensaries are spouting up everywhere! Selling marijuana! To people! Some of them make thousands of dollars a day! Selling marijuana!"

Most people: "And?"

Media: "Some of these people are surely gaming the system! There's lots of 20 somethings saying they have back pain to get their cards."

Most people: "And these same 20 somethings could tell a doctor that they have back pain and get vicodin, and how many young adults are we talking about, anyway?"

Media: "Dozens!"

Most people: "Right. Anyway...."

Media: "But an illegal drug is being sold! PAY ATTENTION TO US!"

Worried about children's health is he? He should probably be going over to the nearby 7-11 and knocking the slurpees out of the pudgy bastards' hands.

The Dispensary I go to makes you flash your Medical card and then you have to be "buzzed" in. You can't just stroll into the place. I don't know if that's how all of them work, but I do know some have security guards who card you upon entry too.

Shouldn't be a problem.

7of7: If marijuana is ever legalized you just know Monsanto will be making roundup ready weed.

There's a Monsanto plant just upriver from New Orleans. I understand that they've stopped production because there's already too much of the stuff on the market, and they want to drive supply down.

Anyway, don't buy roundup. It's a waste of money.

Round-UP, Weed & Grass Killer • Active Ingredients • 1.92 % Glyphosate / Isopropylamine salt • 98.08%

It's all salt.

I was reading the other day that a advocacy group claimed it had the necessary 10,000 signatures to bring Pot Legalization to the 2010 ballot in California (anything under and ounce to be legal over for anyone over 21, and you can grow in a patch up to 5'x5' if you own the property)

If this passes, I expect to be pulling a Clampett and moving to California, oh, about February 2011...

/Planning on moving out west eventually...
//But this kind of sweetens the deal...
///I just hope they don't forget where they left the clipboard with the signatures on it...

I don't get it. If a place dispensing [what in this case is simply] medicine is near a school, the kids will all become drug abusers? Is that what it is?

These are the same people that think a cancer vaccine given to a girl will make her a slut, right?

I have a buddy who lives in Denver who did exactly that. He's now planning on opening a hydroponics store because the market is so huge.

A voter proposal to legalize marijuana in Cali (not just decriminalize it) will be on the ballot next November. I'm going to vote for it...been looking forward to trying the ebil weed for over 30 years.

I'm all for legalization, but this "medical" angle is such a bunch of BS. Sure when stoned, you may be more comfortable more willing to eat and frankly happier. Great, but lets stop acting like it's curing anything.

Is the product taxed at these dispensaries?

If parents would just be honest with their kids about marijuana most of them probably wouldn't care about it.

Ummm, do you have any pharmacies nearby? I hear they have prescription meds there. High School kids might stop by there and pick up a few hundred oxy's on the way home, right? They just hand that shiat out for the asking. Least that's whut I hearz.

I was in LA last weekend and my buddy's cousin (who is 30) had her letter from her doctor for the medical marijuana for "back pain." No questions asked, the letter's good for a year, and apparently there are pretty lax limits on how much you can buy and how often. And yes, her "dispensary" was called "Something Something 420". Her choice this week? Blue Dream. I think she said she paid $7/bag for it and it lasted her about a week. WTF?

I have a photo on my phone of said letter. It's legit, although it looks like something I could whip up in about 3 minutes. Even the "official" gold seal looks like a sticker they got at Office Max or something.

The genie is well and truly out of the bottle, my friends. Legalize all of it already, who cares?

2009-12-16 04:25:20 PM
Actually DoughyGuy there is a voter initiative in California that did just recently garner the required numbers of signatures on a petition to get on the 2010 ballot.

They were required to gather some 430,000 signatures. They easily amassed that amount and more, totaling at 650,000.

Next November the people of California will vote on an initiative to legalize the possession, sale to persons 21 years or older, and cultivation in a space less than 5x5 feet of cannabis.

Prohibition of Cannabis is in it's death throes. It's all coming together.

Incredibly stupid, but even as incredibly stupid as it is the Denver Post comment section is the Algonquin Round Table compared to what the Rocky Mountain News comments were like.
