Isn't plagarism a sin?

Maybe it's a "minor" sin... like masterbation.

He did it for Jesus so that makes it okay.

Whichever one is easier to remove by an ER nurse willing to keep her mouth shut for a bribe.

Considering the "Kosher Salt vs. Christian Salt" lunatics, I was wondering if it would make sense to buy a few boxes of Chiquitas on Saturday, quadruple the price and sell them as "Apostle Snaks" down by the megachurch Sunday.

He should have intelligently designed his argument better to not plagiarize.

The absolute scariest part of all of this, is that there are many people out there, even though it can be proven beyond a doubt that he's lied, still believe what he says contrary to all evidence.

/Which is the definition of "faith" I guess.

Well, the Christians plagiarized the first half of their scriptures from the Jews, so it must be OK, right?

Considering large parts of the Bible were appropriated from non-Judeo-Christian religions, I say if plagiarism is good enough for God, it's good enough for man!

He actually came down here to my school. A couple of us got copies just so we'd get a free version of Origin of Species for the bookshelves. The opening by Comfort is awful though. I recommend finding a copy for the entertainment value.

"The one glitch, it seems to me, is that Comfort purportedly made no profit from his effort, and Guffey lost no income from use of an essay he gave away, so I'm not sure what kind of recompense he could get for the theft."

Comfort should have to become his slave. Then Stan Guffey could beat him within an inch of his life, as allowed by the bible.

"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property." (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

As long as he doesn't die or at least clings to a miserable tortured existence for a couple days and then dies, God is A-OK with it.

Hat tip here to University of Minnesota biologist PZ Meyers, who writes on his Pharyngula blog, "The one glitch, it seems to me, is that Comfort purportedly made no profit from his effort, and Guffey lost no income from use of an essay he gave away, so I'm not sure what kind of recompense he could get for the theft."

If it is verbatim or nearly verbatim and not cited, it is plagiarism. In the academic world you'd get a failing grade, possibly expelled if it was bad enough.

Apparently in your world, Ray deserves sainthood.
