I went to office depot today and there is now a line of Ed Hardy office supplies, including laptop skins and iphone covers.

I imagine it would be a really good way to tell who the office douchebag is without any real thought or investigation, and therefore I support the sale of these products.

That is all.

Considering the loser's show has been cancelled outright and the only thing keeping them in the limelight is this court case (that seems to be utterly pointless), what's the point? This court case is going to dissolve into stopping a has-been from working. Which is like trying to stop Gary Coleman from doing any sitcoms.

How do you pay child support for 8 kids for the next 14 or 16 years?

2009-12-11 05:22:00 PM
Well, TLC seems to have joined Kate's side, and are going to be selling her as a single mom in the reality remake of "8 is Enough". So they're going after Jon because
a. it is brand dilution
b. if enough people learn the shocking news that the Goesslins are attention whores, they might not watch the series
and
c. it is a farking repeat headline.

Are the bonobos asleep at the mod-wheel again?

So, Jon can't work for TLC for obvious reasons, yet is still under contract. TLC then says, "You can't go and try to make money in any other fashion, since you are under contract with us, but we won't pay you to be in any series that we produce."

How in the name of all that is holy is that legal? That's like having an athlete under contract, but benching him and refusing to pay his salary for the season and barring him from speaking to any other teams in order to make a living.

It's called a no compete clause. It's in lots of contracts. I've been told that you can beat them but it takes longer than the no compete period is, and costs you lots of lawyer fees and court costs.

/You-a no fool me, there is no Sanity Clause!

I could understand that if TLC were willing to pay him under their contract, but it seems to me as if they are not. From what it sounds like to me, TLC wants him to be at their beck and call, not really use him all that much, and keep him from making any money anywhere else.

I could also understand a no-compete clause if he was shopping himself for another reality show, but he isn't. He's just making media appearances that TLC doesn't like. If anything, that would be cause to breach the contract on TLC's part, but to bar someone from making any money at all? That sounds excessive.

Also sounds like maybe TLC screwed the pooch by renaming the show "Kate plus 8." If it were not intended to include Jon in a role similar to the one he previously held, it would seem to me to be a substantial change in the contract terms and would likely be unenforceable.

But alas, I am not a lawyer and probably half of what I just said probably has an easy, one line completely legal explanation.

Isn't that what Michael Jackson did to his brothers?

Judge deserves hero tag. Give this douchebag the chair or lethal injection or gas or whatever it is they use these days...and give it to the dumb broad too. Give it to her good.

Ed Hardy is a big pile of ick.

This is what happens when you skip a court appointment. You piss off the judge and the ruling benefits the other party, who did bother to show up. How hard was it for Jon to make the initial court appearance?

I associate Ed Hardy with two things. Baron Douchbag von Crunk, (because it came up in that thread) and now this guy.
Hence, I fully stand by what you have said.
