I thought it was pronounced "Clowncarfull."

Right, Jim-Bob - it's time to give Ma Duggar's popamatic uterus a well-earned retirement.
Snip it or zip it!

I have a hard time believing a legitimate doctor would approve of this.

1lb, 6 oz.? I've eaten sandwiches bigger than that.

He would never do that - it would be against God.

I'm betting that Michelle will die in chlldbirth - and her eldest daughter will get tagged to raise the brood.

Stop celebrating these huge families. Humans aren't meant to have this many living children.

Indeed... the show must go on.

But having a 1lb 6oz baby only live because of months in the NICU is just fine by God?

As many as we can adequately care for, give adequate attention to, meet their emotional needs and still allow them to be children. These kids are nothing but workers in an overcrowded household. I pity these poor kids.

According the Jim-Bob - yes, that is just fine by God. I'm sure he'll say that that child was put on the earth for a 'reason'. This baby's suffering will be some sick sort of 'lesson' for their other kids, in his mind.

No, I subscribe to all of their newsletters, follow every little update on their website, and I've read all of their books at least three times. I take all of this information, run it through my Joy Detector, and publish my findings in a respectable monthly science rag.

Hey, I don't want 19 kids, you clearly don't want 19 kids, I don't know anyone who wants 19 kids, but if they're happy and can make it work, who are you to criticize?

2009-12-11 01:02:31 PM
now if we could just manage to get about 10% of the country building large families like this one, we would have enough people to tax social security AND public option health care into prosperity!

remember kids - if you want your generational ponzi schemes to work, you need women pumping out huge litters of cute little taxpayers.

Don't you get it, man? It's the internet. This is where we go to anonymously pass judgment upon others.

If the boomers had popped out enough kids, we'd have been fine. THAT was the problem.

Pfft to fiscal solvency. I say we use the litters to solve third world hunger crises.

KudaMuda: TheGrayCat: Humans aren't meant to have this many living children.

What does that mean?

It means hundreds of years ago, humna had as many children as possible because a large portion of them wouldn't make it out of childhood. Now, the vast majority of kids make it through to adulthood.

I just don't think any human can give adequate attention and love to 18 (or now 19) kids. I do think most of these kids feel neglected. It doesn't help that they seem to be nothing but workers, cleaning up after each other and posing for the cameras. It's a creepy, not-altogether-healthy environment, no matter how many smiley faces they make for the cameras.

How many of those kids are/will be homosexual or bisexual? How many of them will be farked up because their families are christian zombie mills that have no room for children to have ideas or a sexuality that are different from the parents'?

Or maybe they're actually a functional, happy family.

19 does sound excessive, but big family does not always equal unhappy family. My parents had eight kids (number 6 here) and we honestly did better than the majority of families out there. No real sibling hatred, rivalries, or bickering. We get together over the holidays and it's a blast. My father just retired from his career as an orthopedic surgeon, so he was able to provide.

Can't speak for a family over twice as large, but having more then 2.5 kids doesn't always end in disaster and sorrow.

It'll be kind of interesting to see how the families that these kids start will play out. Having already had the huge family experience, I wonder how many of them will want to continue it.
