Well played, Subby, well played!

I've never seen such a look of disdain as the ones on the faces of the troops in the picture.

He must be a real Renaissance man.

Nice bait and switch, I was hoping for Steve and it was a German cabinet fella that most people have never heard of

obijuan1: I've never seen such a look of disdain as the ones on the faces of the troops in the picture.

Could be because he is wearing a suit and tie.
Seems out of place.

I hope he inks a deal to bring the boys home, before they're imprinted with the horrors of war. It'd be a testament to his political prowess.

Karl-Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg

Every time a soldier gets killed in Afghanistan, Guttenberg gets a new middle name...

2009-12-11 08:31:01 AM
Add Ted Danson, Tom Selleck, a baby, mix it all up with a healthy dose of insurgents, then you got yourself a REAL movie.

Seriously, now.

Amid allegations of a cover-up, the Bundeswehr's chief of staff and Guttenberg's predecessor at the Defence Ministry, Franz Josef Jung, both resigned.

While I have reservations about the parliamentary system of government, sometimes it seems more able to respond to farkups than the American system.

Wow, that's really his name. Baron, nice. Someone punked the German press recently by adding middle names to one minister candidate's name on his (German) Wikipedia page. The papers and websites took it to be accurate and printed his name as such.

In turn Wikipedia referenced these news sites as the source citation for his really long name...

I was SO hoping Steve Guttenberg was on a USO tour...
Throw in Wilfred Brimley, Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy and we could prevent a LOT of casualties

2009-12-11 09:39:52 AM
The Stone Cutters decided to make him German Minister of Defense?

We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well I didn't hear anybody laughing, did you?

2009-12-11 09:44:09 AM
So if the pen is mightier than the sword, does this make the printing press mightier than the IED?

When I first heard that Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and zany, like that movie -- Spaceballs. But instead it was dark and disturbing like that movie, Police Academy.

Homer: Which one's Selma, again?
Marge: She's the one who likes Police Academy movies and Hummel figurines, and walking through the park on clear autumn days.

Out of all the people that are going over there, how many actually speak the local language?

DemonEater: I dented my keyboard with my forehead, personally.

Which, if the letters on my keyboard were raised, or the paint was wet or something, would be rather ironic in this case.
