(The Local (Sweden)) Dumbass You've decided to drill a borehole to install geothermal heating in your hotel. That's good, but you might want to just double check where the subway lines run before you start   (thelocal.se) divider line 48

I was thinking about Dig Safe but I bet it only goes down a few meters. (If they have it at all over there.) If there are no gas, electricity, or water lines above the subway, they will give you the all clear. There would be an easement in your land title saying there's a subway deeper down.

I am really amused by the thought of a drill coming out of the wall of a subway tunnel and attacking a train.

I need to read this story to my kids. They won't stop digging in the back yard and I really don't want to come home to a crater. Or a passage to some expansive, underground Tibetan empire trying to conquer the world and defied only by the secret heroes at PSE&G.

Pfft! Food is irrelevant! Unless I can sell it for money. :)

Y'know, it was that quote that first made me think of economics in a broader term than just buying shiat with Cash American.

What is a church, but a place where one spends time to buy salvation?

Alpha Centauri was/is such a freakin' awesome game. The DEPTH of each faction and the personalities was so well thought out. And the movies for the 'wonders' were snazzy and sometimes very creepy.

Too bad they seem disinclined to make a follow-up. Admittedly, Civ IV Beyond the Sword is pretty well put together. What I really miss is AC's 'custom' design shop. Not that a player could make anything particularly useful (well, Drop Colony Pods can be handy) but it sure was fun.

Don't forget the Indonesia mud volcano, one of the largest manmade disasters in recent history. Like a select group of others (Centralia, PA comes to mind), it's the perfect disaster that may never end, at least not in our lifetimes:

Hey, maybe they could tap some geothermal energy from all that hot mud!
