A mysterious blue spiral visible from Norway that had UFO watchers frothing for a few hours today turns out to be the fallout from a failed Russian test of a submarine-based intercontinental missile.

Because as we all know, governments just LOVE to admit they f*cked up a key component of their national defense plan....

c'mon guys, at least try to lie better.

It was certainly neat to see, no matter what. But it would have been awesome if it was something that happened out in the cosmos.

WATCH THE DAMNED SHOW THEN!

Each of these questions have been asked in various episodes along the shows 46 year history. I'm not going to tell you which ones.

But they're not answered in Horns of Nimon. Or Trial of a timelord. Or Love and Monsters. Or Muppets Daleks in Manhattan

I suspect gopher321 would be over the moon if you gave him an idea where to base his search, lister see what we can do to give him a hand , and not because of fear whether he thinks it was in Ireland or the wrong town in Scotland.

I shada to think what would happen if I tried to keep this going for much longer, so I'll rescue myself from some deadly assassin who might be set on shutting me up.

Ahem.

I actually like Horns of Nimon. Just watched it recently for the first time in a while. Love the bit where Soldeed takes credit for K9 opening the TARDIS doors.

Guard: "You did it!"
Soldeed: [pause] "Yes!"

Yes, perhaps Soldeed's death scene (and most of his life scenes) were more than slightly extremely over the top, but overall, the worst thing about the story is the lousy lighting

Julieahni: It was certainly neat to see, no matter what. But it would have been awesome if it was something that happened out in the cosmos.

If it was way out there, moving like that and big enough, it would also be powerful enough and close enough to wipe us out with whatever it's doing; radiation, debris, simple light.

It would be MUCH MUCH scarier if it was in outer space.

You're suggesting that failed missile launches never result in the debris entering a slow tumble?

Meh, I'm over a lot of Baker's work - he's complete Narm. But some of them are worth it - the mathematical brilliance of Logopolis, the funky Time Ring triad, the literal fellating of Erato in Creature from the pit....

Sorry. That's not even close to what I saw in the videos. Growing blue, slow spinning spiral and a corkscrew line (not arc). Then a space opening in the center of it.

This missile video may be called a slow tumble, but it's not slow like the Doctor's gateway I saw. Pure sci-fi become sci.
