Sucks, but it can't be easy to write a season's worth of comedy television and an album's worth of songs at the same time every year.

I love the show but this is just fine. Non-Americans know how to end a show gracefully. See: the Office (UK), Fawlty Towers, Extras, The Young Ones, Spaced, etc. We don't need FOTC Season 20: Electric Boogaloo.

About four episodes too late, imho.

I'd like to see more of it, but I have a lot of respect for shows that end before they go stale. They end up looking a lot better in retrospect (see Chappelle, Dave).

They said before the second season that they wouldn't do a third because they had a hard enough time making material for a second season.

2009-12-10 09:32:51 PM
It was decent. Give me more Dark Place.

2009-12-10 09:33:46 PM
I didn't get to watch any of the first season, which I heard was better than the second.

What I saw of it was okay ... but it seemed like 80% of the songs were sort of rap-like and sort of cobbled together.

2009-12-10 09:34:08 PM
Sad but not surprising. I remember they had a hard time coming up with enough for season 2. Has to be really tough to write not only TV episodes, but songs to go with them.

The first season was awesome, but the second one was a big let-down.

/Glad HBO is bringing back "Eastbound & Down".
//And "The Life and TImes of Tim".

They could do it without the songs and I'd still love it.

Or give Brian the prime minister of New Zealand a spin off.

coco ebert: Fawlty Towers

To be fair, that show only ended when Cleese and Booth divorced. It would have continued if they were still together. That was one fairly acrimonious divorce.

Good.

Two seasons was enough, they were starting to stretch themselves as it was.

Nothing can touch the perfection of "Unnatural Love".

Both songs (Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor and Carol Brown) were brilliant, and (I believe) were written just for the show.

Yup. I remember reading this too, so no one should be surprised.

Yep. I don't know why this is still news, we knew it was going to be this way a long time ago.

Good riddance, they were part of the reason I ditched HBO.
That and the other stupid show with the bald asswipe with glasses.

I never really enjoyed the show all that much.

Although I always crack up at the line "You could be a part-time model."

It's a shame the show is cancelled, they were hilarious.

America should do more shows with Australian entertainers.

Anybody here see "eagle vs. shark" ? it's a movie starring the guy with Glasses from flight of the conchords. I only saw part of it, but it slightly reminded me of a weird australian version of "napoleon dynamite" [complete with horrid 70's decor], and because of the humour and pacing and direction.

2009-12-10 10:13:40 PM
Too many dicks on the dance floor (new window) was absolutely hilarious.

It's sad to see such an original and quirky show go, but they were starting to get a bit stale.

Its painfully unfunny, just like the Larry David show.

Never could get into them. They always stuck me as Tenacious D for pussies, like Tenacious D: Dio::Flight of the Conchords: Maroon 5.

Seriously.

Let's hear it for quality over quantity. Do a season 3 if/when the material is there.

Great movie. Yes, sorta Napoleon Dynamite-ish.

...Haven't they been saying this for months? Also I may be mistake but isn't curb your enthusiasm not on a yearly contrract. Larry David will just make a new session every time he feels like it? I wish Flight would do that... It would be fun to here a new session... even in like 3 years.

I'm just sad we never got to see Mel's boobies.

I would have loved to see a third season but it's understandable that they'd rather cancel than produce absolute crap.

Oh man, I love that song. It's always the truth in humor that gets to me.

The real tragedy is I sat through an entire episode of this piece of shiat.

2009-12-10 11:14:11 PM
i really enjoyed the first season
a friend gave me on dvd

like my buddy Zim called it

slow comedy

people who don't get it that's okay

3/10

And if there was any reason to ditch HBO, it's because they bailed on "Deadwood" and gave us the pile of shiat known as "John from Cincinatti".

The Yost family can DIAF or drown, I don't care which.

2009-12-10 11:29:02 PM
YES YES YES YES YES!!!! farking finally. That show was an awful pile of shiat, and I couldn't stand when a couple friends would send me clips every day and not stop talking about it

2009-12-10 11:29:20 PM
The first season was awesome because they had all these funny songs they'd been performing live and they built a show around them.

The second season was pretty disappointing because they had this funny show and they had to write songs around it.

2009-12-10 11:30:33 PM
I consider myself a fan but realistically, there really wasn't any point to yet another season of this series. It ended satisfactorily, everything was reasonably concluded, and it can never be accused of being "played out".

I also consider myself a fan of Tenacious D, and I'm equally glad the brief HBO series will likely be the last of that series. Better to die too early than to die too late...

Both duos were entertaining. Both made for great acoustic comedy. Both ran their course without overstaying their welcome. Bravo, gentlemen.

I support this. We need more islamic based TV shows.
