Ok. Playing beer pong with Betty White was pretty damn funny.

Yeah, at first I actively wished him ill but now I love his show.

Wow...those were surprisingly good. Seems like kind of a Conan O'Brian situation. He was terrible when he started, but he smoothed into the role.

2009-12-09 05:09:58 PM
Hated him on SNL, so I could never bring myself to watch his show. Then again, I don't really like Late Night.

/Meh

When Mark Paul Gosselaar showed up on his show in his Zach Morris character, I couldn't stop laughing. Great stuff.

I don't watch his show regularly, but I have to admit the few times I caught it, I laughed.

He got Michael Emerson (LOST's Benjamin Linus) to read a nursery rhyme on TV. That's up there with Christopher Walken reciting the lyrics to 'Poker Face', imo. Completely off the wall.

2009-12-09 05:19:55 PM
You made a bold move here, subby. If you're willing to see this through, I'll stand by you.

The show can actually be pretty funny once in a while.

Isn't it interesting that the guys that have the "Late Late" shows, whether it's Dave back in the day, Conan, Ferguson, or now Fallon, all seem to eventually find their legs and succeed with edgy material, while the guys in the 10:30 slots quickly stagnate and/or flounder?

2009-12-09 05:22:22 PM
It's the Stockholm syndrome subby because Jimmy Fallon is a no-talent hack!

2009-12-09 05:24:29 PM
My favorite was the threesome with Olivia Munn and Artie Lange. That had to have been the greatest moment on Jimmy Fallon's show, and he hardly had anything to do with it. The chemistry of Olivia and Artie was amazing.

2009-12-09 05:26:26 PM
Wasn't the bit where he got Miss Teen South Carolina (who became infamous for something totally unrelated to drugs or nakey pictures) on Fark recently?

And yes, I lol'd. Jimmy hasn't had his Masturbating Bear or his "I'm F***ing Ben Affleck" moment yet, but when it comes, I'll probably lol again.

There also dozens of painfully awkward moments where Jimmy does things like give away carpet samples.

He occasionally succeeds, but his failures are greater.

I think the best thing he's done so far is the HEAD SWAP skits.

That was an awesome segment, but only because of his guests. You could have put a tape recorder on the desk and had it play awkward giggling for 30 minutes and the show would have still been great.

As someone who stuck with Conan when Late Night started out, I can potentially see Fallon following the same trajectory. But frankly, Conan had an insane writing staff for the first few years, and some of his best material was during that time. I'm not sure Fallon is up to it.

I just watched that and, yes, it was great. Artie is hilarious and I guess I should have realized Olivia Munn would have a great time with him. They were both funny and she looked smokin! She's someone I had to acclimate myself to, though. I found her really shrill and annoying at first.

I don't catch Attack of the Show all that often, but during the segments when she interviews people she really doesn't seem to have all that much geek knowledge. Sometimes I think I might be being sexist or something, but I really don't have a problem with thinking of Morgan Webb as a geek, and both she and Olivia are painfully hot.

That being said, I looked up the clip you were talking about, and it was actually pretty hilarious. Munn herself was extremely witty and funny. She doesn't really seem to come off as such during her own interviews...but like I said, I don't watch the show all that often, so maybe I'm just hitting bad days or something.

He's still unbearably terrible.

the audience reaction is so minor that they have to switch mics between him and them after each joke just so they can be heard.

Don't believe me? Watch his monologue (not online, but on TV) one of these days. They never sync up the mics right, so you the end of the joke, or beginning of the next (sometimes both) will sound weird, because it's not being broadcast on his mic anymore, but on the audience one. Good surround sound will be able to make the change even more obvious.

I can see what your saying. I dont watch Attack of the show that much either. But I just think shes hot and when I do see the show she does have some pretty good banter with the other co host. I was mostly watching for Artie and she was just a good enough 2nd guest to want to keep watching. She seems pretty good at just going back and forth with someone as oppose to interviewing someone.

And yes..that picture is fap worthy!

I'm so sorry. I helped give Jimmy his start way back in the day - the radio station I worked at sponsored a stand-up contest with a $1000 prize and damned if he didn't win.

If I'm taking it right - this is a pretty fair point actually. When an anchorman reports about the economy, I don't derisively say "Feh - I bet he's not really an economist! He's just reading something!"

I'm not sure why I want my sport reporters to love sports and my game reporters to love games...

Boy, and I thought I was done learning things from Nina Hartley's Ass.

I think we're discussing their level of knowledge and passion. If a guy is running a computer show, I want him to know a shiatload about computers. Same for a guy running a sports show. Or any type of show about a specific topic. Moreover, I don't just want them to know about it, I want them to love it, to get up every morning thinking about it and just NEED to talk about all the "important" stuff going on in that realm. If you don't LOVE SF and comics and gadgets and video games and the like, you've no business being on a program that caters to an audience that does.

Now, I know Olivia Munn was put on there specifically because she's the hotness. Also she's half Chinese, IIRC, so she's got that asian chick thing that every geek is obsessed with going on. And that's fine, as long as she knows her stuff. Everyone likes a cute girl. From what I've seen, however, she's just passable. There are a lot of hot geek girls out there. I know, I've seen them in teh RL. I'm just trying to figure out why they chose her.

Morgan Webb, on the other hand, seems to really know her stuff. She's apparently been obsessed with video games since she was like, six. That's the pedigree I expect.

Also, am I the only one who's imagined those bangs of hers, messed and plastered to her forehead with sweat, whilst I (or you, in this case, I suppose) do...just horrible, horrible things. I mean, stuff that'll get you kicked out of Thailand.

2009-12-09 08:16:31 PM
Judging by the article, Jimmy Fallon sounds like some kind of talk show Carrot Top. Take away the props (read: guests) and you would have something like a humor vacuum.

Also, I'm no expect on running late night talk shows, but it seems pretty doubtful that all the ideas TFA would credit Fallon with were his. Or maybe, you know, no comedy writer would willingly be associated with Jimmy Fallon, and he really does come up will all his own stuff. I could see that being the case.
