Joe(pattonx) and Drew will be signing and gabbing at Downtown Comics(linked article) from 3 to 6pm next Wednesday. After that we'll all be heading down to The Ram (new window) which is walking distance. I have a section reserved there so they can do a little Q&A over dinner for anyone missing the book signing. It is in the dining area so kids would be fine for the early part. I've been to a few of these so I STRONGLY recommend getting them out of there by 8. It will likely devolve into a sloppy bar scene later on as usual. FTR- Ram is a non-smoking venue. They have pretty good pub grub. If I get a head count by next Monday, I can get a banquet discount on appetizers and limited menu items for our group. Otherwise we can just order off the menu without the confusing "chip-in" scene. Yes, I know it's a schoolnight, but this is probably a good thing in December when everyone has family crap on the weekends. See you all there. Questions? There are lots of different ways to get hold of me in profile.

This is a great idea. Thanks dugitman for hosting this. I'll be there.

Mentally Incontinent? And this isn't a Sarah Palin book signing?

2009-12-09 02:21:14 PM
I'm not saying Mr. Burns is incontinent...

2009-12-09 02:23:01 PM
I'll try to be there if possible, but don't count me yet. If I end up wanting food, i'll just pay separately.

Two comments:

1)Drew? Do one in Wisconsin

and

2) Adolf? Get back to us after you've published a book (and something done in a spiral notebook written in Crayon(tm) doesn't count).

Houlihan's is far superior to the Ram.

people are going to take one look at that title and thousands of Palin supporters will show up.

Aeonite: Houlihan's is far superior to the Ram.

Haven't been there in a while. I remembered it as being a smallish chili and beer place but like I said- been years. Maybe next time if you remind me.

Sweet! I'll try to make it.

Don't get a traffic ticket in Indy, I hear they really suck there.

What a funny coincidence. Not 20 minutes ago I was thinking, "Joe hasn't sent me my signed book from the release day deal thread yet", and now the top thread is about this. C'mon, Joe, hook it up!

Houlihan's is less bar, more restaurant. Way better food and nicer staff.

A Fark party in Indianapolis? This is relevant to my interests...

Third In Line: I am reading Joe's book right now!

so what, I know

From the moment I picked his book up until the moment I set it down, I could not stop laughing. Some day I intend on reading it.

Most of Joe's stories are completely fabricated or merely a twisted version of reality. I know, I used to work with him.

For example, his Wal-mart story in the first book didn't happen that way. I was working at Wal-Mart at the time when Joe got his job there. In his first book Joe describes a conspiracy perpetrated against him by co-workers and management of Wal-Mart which eventually led him to be fired. Not true.

The truth is that Joe was let go because he wasn't a team player and refused to follow company procedures. As an employee that was very close with the night manager, I was privy to lots of inside info and gossip on the goings on of our store. Joe was a special case. On Joe's second day at the store, he was found in the kitchen area of the food court pleasuring himself using a Pepperidge Farm Summer Sausage and a copy of Martha Stewart Living Magazine. Our manager thought Joe was just goofing around and was a bit strange, so he let it go since no customers witnessed Joe's actions.

The next incident involved Joe, a tub of cottage cheese and some magazine w/ Dale Earnhart Jr. on the cover. This time he was found in the break room. I would compare Joe to a real-life, in-person gorgor picture.

Needless to say, this behavior kept on for weeks until some co-workers began to talk about a hostile work environment and taking legal action, so management was forced to take action.

Joe was a nice enough guy, awfully perverted and strange, but nice. But don't believe everything he writes. If you go to the bar after the book signing and can't find Joe, don't go searching for him- some things cannot be unseen.

INDY FARK PARTY!!!! \m/

Sigh. I work 'til 5:30. But it *is* about a 5-minute walk from that comic shop. Consider this my RSVP for showing up next Wednesday after work.

/Any designated-driver volunteers in case I get sloppy-drunk and need to get home safely?

I'm in.

And then more crap

Dude. Martha Stewart Living wasn't even out then - it was Oprah's magazine, and I only used the summer sausage in my mouth. The rest was a wiffleball bat. If you're going to go blowing my cover, at least do it right.

As much as it pains me sometimes to be in the same room with Joe, I will be there.

And Pepperidge Farms? Dude wtf? Worst summer sausage ever.

I'm not certain it can be called "meat". Offal, perhaps.

I feel it necessary to point out that Crayola is a trade-mark, not crayon.

bring extra shoes and tomatoes!

Houlihan is closed you know. It's now a BBW3 now.

no joke?? dude that was a good place to eat. Not that B-Cubed isn't good, but houlihan's was nice. We actually have some cool spots downtown, now that I think about it. Hard Rock has a nice bar to sit at, many trips to alcatraz in my day, and rock bottom too.

Thinking about these places is making me want to drink beer.

Damn all of you! A Fark party in Indiana, within driving distance and I have final exams week at the university.

/Have a good one from a Hoosier

2009-12-09 04:19:39 PM
I'm there, been meaning to pick up Drew's book anyway. Anyone want to split cab fare from Old North Side?

2009-12-09 04:39:02 PM
What the hell is Mentally Incontinent?

2009-12-09 04:47:28 PM
Awww Snarcoleptic, sucks to be you. Give my regards to USI though. Class of 2007 Eagles ftw!

2009-12-09 04:50:52 PM
Wait a sec. Snarc, I totally am pretty sure I know you. Awkward moment in 3...2...1...

2009-12-09 05:12:17 PM
I did this in Austin and it was a BLAST! Expect Drew to be completely unprepared however (does this surprise anyone?) and he just opens the floor to questions. You should have heard the stories about Aarkieboy! Check my profile for cool picture of me and the man himself. He only charges $10 per photo. At least that is all he charged me! :)

2009-12-09 05:27:13 PM
Sounds tempting. If I feel like driving downtown from the Northside, I might be able to make it to the RAM.

2009-12-09 05:34:04 PM
Hmm dinner at the Ram with Farkers on a Wednesday night...I can't think of any thing better.

2009-12-09 05:44:39 PM
I was wondering about the signed copies if we pre-ordered! Dang, but the UPS or USPS didn't send my copy from Amazon back to Amazon because of an "undeliverable address"! Stinking doody heads! Called them back and asked WTF??!! I now have my copy of Mentally incontinent and am currently reading it! I don't live anywhere near Indy though..... And where IS my signed copy? I'm hoping not lost in the mail... hint..hint..

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Houlihans is a BDubs now? Which one? The one on Maryland is still there last time I checked.

2009-12-09 06:27:37 PM
Gone as of Nov. Sorry. CHeck last week, BBW3 now.

2009-12-09 06:29:25 PM
Hm. Well, that sucks for anyone who doesn't want to go to the Northside then.

2009-12-09 06:59:10 PM
It figures that you would be in Indy five days BEFORE I move there.

2009-12-09 07:35:52 PM
Would if I could, but I lack transport.

/shakes a tiny petulant fist
//slashies!

2009-12-09 09:37:17 PM
I'm there.
