"Miracle Dog" Survives 3 Months on Deserted Island

I read this book when I was a kid. The dog survived by eating the girl's brother.

I wish i had a nickname like Muskrat Jack.

Now there's a real bootsrappy American dog. He doesn't need to rely on handouts from others to survive. This dog's survival is just another indicator of Obama's failed socialist policies.

Sure, everyone wants the nickname, but few are willing to do the terrible, terrible things necessary to get the nickname.

It's pretty obvious the dog ate all the dessert that was covering the island...

When asked what bait he used in the trap, Neary, who said he's been trapping animals for 50 years, would only say "a secret formula."

If the dog had not eaten anything for that whole time, I would imagine you could put almost anything in that trap to catch it.

"This is obviously a miracle," said Kelley

I don't know why, but it really grinds on my nerves when people say this. It is not obviously a miracle. Maybe that's obvious to dumb people who don't know what 'miracle' means, but to the rest of us, it's just an undisciplined dog scavenging for food, as any other undisciplined dog separated from its pack would do.

And when your stupid kid falls out of a moving car into the freeway and isn't hurt, it's not a miracle, it's a damn lucky break that 99 other kids out of 100 don't get. When the fire department saves you from a house fire, it's not a miracle, it's just the fire department doing its farking job.

Jack: It was my "secret formula".
Reporter: Was it dog food?
Jack: ...yes

FTA The beagle apparently had walked along railroad tracks connected to the deserted island to the popular fishing inlet.

More like "Stupid" Dog for not figuring out how to walk back across the railroad to the mainland.

This would have been a better story if he had been befriended and rescued by a cranky porpoise. As it is, no one's going to option the screenplay.

My dog is a purebred American Cocker Spaniel and she still insists on hoarding food. Seriously, she hides half of her food around the house and most of her treats she gets.

It's a beagle. Anything would have worked. I once caught a stray beagle with a piece of old KFC I was about to throw out of my car. When the owner found me with the dog, she was shocked because it was terrified of men. Yeah, but not men with chicken.

UMMM? If there are railroad tracks connecting the island to the mainland and the dog needed rescue he's not lucky, he's stupid.

I can tell you a story about Muscrat Jack. Upon retrieving my lost ferret, I went to his house. It was right out of a Zane Gray noval.

"Emerging into a doorway, Muscrat Jack appeared through a cigar haze...," surreal.

Beagles aren't stupid. They're, um, special. "Smart" dogs like German Shepherds are bred to communicate with and obey people. Beagles have been bred to obey their nose, not people. The more I recognize my dog is a nose with a friendly personality, the better I understand her.

See, this is a lesson in economy:

We'd need a million monkeys with a million typewriters banging away for a ridiculous amount of time in order to produce Shakespeare...

or we just get one monkey quickly banging away with a mutt to produce pr0n
