As someone who is a devout DS fan this is not stupid at all. Johnny Depp has wanted to play Barnabas Collins for many years and now he's getting that chance. I, for one, am looking forward to this movie.

I like Johnny Depp, I just wish Tim Burton would move on to a different actor for something.

I love Johnny Depp, I loved the stupid that was Dark Shadows, I love Tim Burton, I love his loyalty to his actors. If Peewee is in it, my joy is complete!

In other news, Tim Burton will make something featuring Johnny Depp? Any word on whether it will have Marla Singer too? 'Cuz that's the only way he could be more surprising.

As a card-carrying boomer, who never actually watched Dark Shadows except accidentally, I am looking forward to this.

Also to the reboot of My Mother, The Car.

/read this agaion, in the voice of Boris Karloff. Bwahahahaa.

oldebayer: Also to the reboot of My Mother, The Car.

Jerry Van Dyke was a gifted and talented actor.

So... Dark Shadows was like the Twilight of the 1960s?

Nope, not even close.

You mean like Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell?
Or Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune? (until their feud)
Zucker and Nielsen?
Mel Brooks and Madeline Kahn?
John Hughes and The Brat Pack? (Or Chevy Chase)

There's a reason some directors stick with specific actors -- less of a headache and less of a primadonna than a star you haven't worked with. Also, they may know what you want out of them long before they set foot on the set.

You do realize you goofed her name, right?

(Technically, that could read "his current SO", but it's been HBC for years now.)

When I think of Burton/Depp I don't think of Wonka(an unnecessary remake) but of Ed Wood which was brilliant. Dark Shadows and that floating hand scared the crap out of me as a little kid and I have high hopes for the Burton/Depp version.

Pedantic much?

The really good news? We might get some cheapo box sets from MPI featuring the run of the series instead of those 40 episodes for 40 bucks deal they've been having forever.

The entire run for a good price? Yes, please.

Denise Nickerson who was Violate in Willy Wonka was also in Dark Shadows. Now Depp who starred in Willy Wonka will star in Dark Shadows. Spooky coincidence or proof of intelligent design?

/I'm going with intelligent coincidence

Broom: You do realize you goofed her name, right?

No I most certainly did not. Call her what you want. Every character she's played since has been the same character.

I understand that that band from England that did only one song like 35 times... the band I call Blue Monday... has some other name.
