only dumb tough guys would make threats over a silly tv show.

The worst part is they're all from New York, yet we get the blame.

North of Route 70, the trash is from NY
South of Route 70, it's from PA

Can we argue about whether this is ironic or not? I say it is.

ne2d: Can we argue about whether this is ironic or not? I say it is.

It's not because irony is in part something you wouldn't expect. For instance, it would be kinda ironic if it was a reality show about peer mediators and the subjects went and beat the shiat out of the producer over it. A bunch of dumb jersey shore guys mouthing off is par for the course - it is exactly what you would expect to happen.

The wikipedia definition:

Irony (from the Ancient Greek εἰρωνεία eirōneía, meaning hypocrisy, deception, or feigned ignorance) is a situation, literary technique or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity, discordance or unintended connection that goes beyond the most evident meaning. It is the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite.

Not entirely true. There's just as much trash coming from Newark, Jersey City, & Bayonne as there is from PA. And the Pineys aren't trash. They're just...weird.

Those are still New Yorkers. They just like cheaper rent.

Yes, New Jersey is being unfairly characterized as New Jersey.

There are a lot of italian horn necklaces and Full Blooded Italian bumper stickers being destroyed in rage right now.

I wonder if there was any fist pumpin' going on when they were writing those death threats.

It's like they think MTV is still relevant.

It's time for New Jersey to take a look in the mirror. This is who we are. Or, at least, who some of us are. Instead of pointing the finger at MTV, we should be looking at ourselves. Parents, if your children turned out this way, you've failed. As a state, as a community, it's time we've come out and said it.

Not ironic. Dumb tough guys making threats is exactly what you'd expect (not the opposite). There's no double meaning, second audience or divine justice here either.

Any NJ Farkers going to be around in January? We have a hearing up thar and I've never been north of DC.

Tough? Really? The only reason more of them don't get beat constantly is because nobody wants to get that orange crap they cover themselves in on their clothes.

Glamor muscles don't equal toughness.

look at it this way, they're angry about being portrayed as asswipes, yet reacting asswipishly. pretty ironic.

The one douchebag was in line for like a hot dog or something drunk off his ass, and he started pushing around some other guy and he was like "Kid, my family's been coming down here since I was born. I'm FROM here."

That's when you know you've got a douchebag tourist who thinks he can treat the town and its residents like shiat.

It's close enough dammit. No need to split hairs (in this case, very gel-encrusted ones) like people do when people mention irony.

So basically New Jersey guidos are the militant Muslims of America?

Damn, now I'll have to watch it. If it's as ignorant as Bravo's "Real Housewives" series, it will be awesome.

/wine usually helps while watching.

I watched the first episode. Did anyone else? If so tell me you saw this little tid bit.

So..the scene is set. A little bit of a tussle is going outside the club featuring the dudes from the show VS. some non-guido looking guys. 1 guy from the show is pushed and a crowd forms and pushing and shoving goes on...out of no where Guido from the show steps in throws a punch to a being held guy not from the show. Gudio from the show then fades away and is held back..

Cut to his testimonial part inside the shore house.

"I'm not a biatch but you push one of my boys im not gonna stand for that."

My commentary-Sir..your are indeed a biatch. You did the most biatch thing a guy can do when a fight is getting ready to start. You faded in threw a sucker punch and faded away to be protected. BIATCH ASS SHIAT RIGHT THERE BRO!

suggestion-murder yourself.

As an Italian - American....LOL!

F both parties involved. Those Jersey pricks should be shot mob style and dumped into an ocean with concrete boots. Lets see how tough you are then your stupid WOP!

I just want to say that Jersey Shore is the best tv show ever.

I grew up and still reside at the Jersey Shore. These guys have had this stigma since I can remember. I applaud MTV for finally showing the world what we have to deal with. Fortunately, they only represent a fraction of the bennys. We all grew up with them. I remember going to clubs back in the day where the look was consistently vest, no shirt.
We laugh at them now just as we did then.

They only really hang out in Seaside, Belmar, and Point Pleasant. Other than that, the rest of the Jersey Shore is safe. Although I do wonder about Pier Village in Long Branch once the economy gets better...

Really? If what I've heard about it is true, the producers of it deserve to be getting death threats, just not for their portrayal of guidos.

2009-12-08 08:33:01 PM
I'd love to see a Long Island spin-off. Because Long Island douchebags are like Jersey Shore guidos, only they have much more money with which to douche out.

Maybe that's what MTV could do for their next Real World clone: Stereotype House. Include a dolled-up Guido tough guy; a slutty materialistic airheaded blonde; a pothead brotha who butchers the English language worse than a drunk Dan Quayle; for my own people an alcoholic Irishman who seems to go excessively out of the way to fark up his own life; and an effeminate gay guy who ways about 70 pounds and obsesses over hair products with the guido (who hates him and doesn't see the parallel) and the blonde.
