get over it, it's just a movie and enjoy it for that

2009-12-08 02:24:41 PM
I have full confidence in this sequel. RDJ is worth the price of admission alone.

2009-12-08 02:25:29 PM
Having Rourke in it makes me nervous. Something about all the pictures i've seen of him in costume screams terribleness.
/but I'm still hoping for the best

bigpeeler: I have full confidence in this sequel. RDJ is worth the price of admission alone.

This. Superhero sequels tend to rock, anyways. It's the third that always sucks.

2009-12-08 02:29:23 PM
It's a fair point - that's a lot of A-listers to have in a two-hour movie. I can only imagine trying to manage the egos involved off-set, let alone making sure they all have reasonable amounts of screen time...
Doesn't really matter, though, in the end it's freakin' Iron Man 2. It'd make a bazillion dollars at the box office if the supporting cast was made up of Bollywood-dancing midgets, just because RDJ is in it.

2009-12-08 02:30:36 PM
A lot of people thought Iron Man 1 was going to suck, too.

2009-12-08 02:31:19 PM
The reason Spiderman 3 sucked is because the Studio wanted one villain while the director wanted another. They made the director put the villain in, and the director said fark you and made Spidey become a dancing emo douchebag.

Iron Man hasn't seemed to have any indication yet of similar things, and the the people in the film seem to follow organically (Stark getting involved with SHIELD.)

Spidey 3 was farking godawful...I don't think Iron Man 2 could even touch that level of suck.

2009-12-08 02:37:04 PM
Spiderman 3 didn't have Scarlett Johanssens rack and ass in tight leather.

2009-12-08 02:38:34 PM
pubes: Oh please, Spidey 3 was actually pretty good.

It was okay. The big mistake was trying to do two villains at once. Either villain was pretty darn good on his own.

Crudbucket: A lot of people thought Iron Man 1 was going to suck, too.

It benefitted from not sucking as much as people expected it to suck, this does not make it good.

I still don't think I buy that story. The studio makes you use a character you don't like and your response is to make the entire movie an epicly heaping helping of shiat? I'm not so sure. Spider-Man 3 was execrable and lakcs any of the excuses X3 does.

pd771: They made the director put the villain in, and the director said fark you and made Spidey become a dancing emo douchebag.

He also gave the shoehorned villain about 15 minutes of screen time, and if I remember correctly didn't let him live enough to even get a name.

So no one was happy.

Raimi hates Venom. He explicitly staed before Spiderman 3 that he never wanted to do a Venom movie. Knowing that and the way Venom/Darth Spidey was treated I think it was an intentional fark you to the studios.

Dark Knight was more messy than Batman Begins, but it was still awesome and it had:

Morgan Freeman
Michael Caine
Heath Ledger
Aaron Eckhart
Gary Oldman
Christian Bale
Maggie Gylnhall

Two main villains
Several minor villains (like Lau)
A love triangle
Multiple moral and ethical questions
Lots of explosions
A Stupid Bike
Lots and lots of Win.

Spiderman 3 was traumatic, but you can't let it ruin your life allow it to cause you to give more page views to hack writers citing other hack writers as their sources.

pubes: Oh please, Spidey 3 was actually pretty good.

They threw in too many villains at once. The first 2 movies focused on a single bad guy, yet in the third we had 3 different bad guys show up at the same time for no good reason at all.

Emo spider-man didn't exactly help matters.

Now I won't say it wasn't worth the price of admission, but it was nothing compared to Spiderman 1 & 2.

As long as we won't have to deal with Emo Iron Man it couldn't be as bad as Spidey 3

They could have Jar Jar Binks flying around in the suit and people would go out and see it. It's freakin' Iron Man 2

Isn't someone supposed to post the Booster Gold picture now? I'm not a comic book reader, so I never know if it's sincere or not.

Depends...up until 52, he was a kinda goofy character. Then he got all badass and junk.

Contrabulous Flabtraption: Iron Man is the lamest superhero of all time.

not really. he had more depth than pretty much all of the DC heroes combined (barring the goddamned batman). his book was consistently awesome back in the 80's when I was still reading comics. the movie really was pretty damned awesome. honestly.... Iron Man is kind of an alcoholic batman (incredibly smart, rich, smarmy) that had the common sense to use his genius to create a battle suit that KICKS ASS. honestly, batman would be dead within an hour of his first outing as a superhero, since one gunshot to the head ends it. now if batman had the iron man suit, that would pretty much be the best superhero evar.

/rambling comment is rambling.

Doubt it...mainly because Prime would zap him, then hold him down with his mighty fist of JUSTICE!

Unless we're talking movie OP...then he'd blast IM to pieces...or ram his blade through IM's head.

well, the movie did have some HUGE holes. such as why did megalomaniac baldy bad guy run an arms company so well for years and then just suddenly decide that killing people was going to be awesome? why did baldy bad guy just incapacitate Tony instead of just shooting him in the head and taking the damn glowy blue power McGuffin? why did it take Tony lots of self training to use his refined, streamlined power suit and yet baldy bad guy just hops in a huge clunky prototype for the first time and everything just clicks and he kicks ass? why did Pepper Potts stay clothed?

has Iron Man ever smashed some Sentinels? Because I have a feeling that would be similar to fighting Optimus. I bet ol' Tony could give Prime a run for his money. What do you guys think?

Here's the thing: Sentinals, unless I'm recalling incorrectly, don't think for themselves. Prime, however, is a master strategist. So, while I'm sure that Iron Man could take out a Sentinal, or even an army of Sentinals, I'm betting that Prime would be a bigger, better, multiple issue fight.

well no doubt it would be a good fight, with the odds stacked heavily in Prime's favor, but against an infinitely maneuverable, incredibly powerful Iron Man that is small enough to run circles around Prime... I dunno. It would be neat to see in a comic book, I think.

Not to mention I'm gonna guess Prime is built out of better and less fragile material than Earth-made sentinels made by the DoD.

Then again, if we're talking movie Transformers -- I try not to -- modern ammo seem capable of taking them out.
