I still think it's odd that I'm the only one that's noticed the fairly blatant copying of Peter F. Hamilton's Fallen Dragon.

This movie could- could- be better than Roadhouse.

Way to set the bar low there...

I had an omelet this morning that had herb de provence in the eggs. There was a little salt, too. When the cook folded it, he put some sharp cheddar cheese inside. Just before he dished it up to serve, he put a little more sharp cheddar on top. It melted. It was beautiful. I ate it with tabasco.

And that there is a better story than the Phantom Menace.

Hell, that was a better story than the entire Godfather trilogy.

I think I'll write my own sequel tomorrow morning.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

*sighs*

Wow.

Is it better than the Inspector Gadget movie as well, Michelle?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Let's not go talking the crazy talk.

Someone quoted two paragraphs of Michelle Rodriguez talking about a movie? What did they really expect out of her?

It's totally going to outclass Troll 2.

Let me sum up this movie for everyone. It's a full length version of the Ewoks versus the Empire. With Cameron writing, directing and producing and with horrible acting. With massively over-the-top special effects that are somewhere up there with Transformers as a mechanism to replace any actual plot. It's going to suck HARD.

Sorry, but I only judge movies by their relative merits to the as-yet-unreleased "Monopoly: The Motion Picture", so this statement is meaningless to me.

I would. Twice. Then I'd fall asleep and she'd be unsatisfied. But I penised her twice.

This movie is comparable to The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies.

I actually liked Phantom Menace. And apparently a lot of other people. Except but hurt geeks.

But to tell you the truth, this movie looks like they saw World Of Warcraft and said "Lets make a movie on this...but put spaceships in it"

I'm sorry, but is Avatar supposed to resemble "Avatar: The Last Airbender"? Because the TV/movie translation looks to be, at first glance, about as good as the book/movie translation of The Running Man.

Just to note, the Running Man book did not contain an opera-singing fat dude covered in blinking Christmas lights.

Nope, that's being handled by M Night Shamalayan.

I still think it's odd that I'm the only one that's noticed the fairly blatant copying of previous Farkers who have also said that AVATAR is a copy and rip-off of this and that story from some obscure novella, film, cartoon, comic, documentary, ancient legend, news item, TMZ article, someone's phone call they had once.

Stop with the attention whoring, thanks. We get it.

ninjakirby: Nope, that's being handled by M Night Shamalayan.

Now with video!

I am unashamedly a fan of the cartoon series, which my daughter got me hooked on and quite frankly dealt with a lot more serious subjects than I expected a Nickelodeon show to tackle. The movie... Well, I'm a little nervous. Shamalayan is pretty hit an miss. Let's hope he does a little more "Unbreakable" and a little less "Lady in the Water."

I predict that the venerable Mr. Lucas will be so upset that the esteemed Mr. Cameron has now created the most expensive, technically extravagant, mindless time-wasting spectacle in history, that he will have just enough time to engineer an ill-conceived 3D CGI reboot of Howard the Duck, costing 900 million dollars, and launch it to market just in time for December, 2012, thus destroying the world.

2009-12-08 07:20:27 AM
based on what i've seen thus far, i can tell it will be considerably better than The Karate Dog starring John Voight. Masterpiece?

She's absolutely right, I never thought about it before, but that's what Phantom Menace was missing: the props. There were all sorts of props in the original Star Wars, and where were they in Phantom Menace? I don't know. It was like all the props were gone. It was propless. Now I'm going to have to watch Star Wars again and admire the props.

While Avatar reaches for the pinnacle of cinematic excellence set by Battlefield Earth, the plot and character development fall slightly short of that goal. However, the story itself does explore many of the same themes and leaves the viewer wondering, "Who are we and what does it mean to be human in this great, expansive universe?" Definitely a must see.

I have no idea what the f*ck an Avatar is, but Michelle Rodriguez is hot. That's pretty much all I got, sorry.

Tighten that up a bit and you could be Ernest Hemingway.

You know, James Cameron might be a jackass, but his movies are pretty well done. And the same things were said about Titanic before it came out.

Sure, he's been somewhat out of the game for a while, but give the guy a chance.

It has a "fresh" rating from Rotten Tomatoes of 63% with an average rating of 6/10

That's not too bad actually. shiat like Transformers 2 didn't get half the positive reviews that Phantom Menace did. Sure, for a Star Wars movie it blew big time, but it wasn't that bad in and of itself.

Who is anyone kidding? This movie is going to make a ton of money. I think the bulk of audiences are casual moviegoers that go to see a spectacle, not a great film. That's why TF and GI Joe make money despite sucking.

What was frustrating about PM (and the other prequels) was that they COULD have been really good. Liam Neeson is a great actor, Ewan McGregor owned the Obi Wan Kenobi role, etc. It just felt like they were really close to something good.
